UUUUGH I really hate how I can't scroll through some people's blogs without seeing SU spoilers. They even tagged them but on blog it doesn't work. Is cartoon network just allergic to the idea that a show might have TWISTS that SURPRISE people?
You know I only just realised now that Vidalia is a type of onion? I mean, I knew her namer had to have something to do with onions, because of the theme with her sons, but I'd never heard of the variety before now? (Because it's an american type that only seems to grow in Georgia) I kinda wondered why they didn't just call her Allium, but maybe that would have been too obvious? XDD
I'd say that Allium would have been a less obvious callback to Onion than Vidalia for most of the American audience! Vidalia onions are pretty popular (like, entire fields bought years before the harvest popular) because the soil quality in Vidalia, Georgia leaves them completely sweet with none of the bite onions usually have. (You have to have licensing and everything to be allowed to call your onions Vidalia Onions. It's pretty great.)
Spoiler: Monster reunion soooo, it's kinda half and half gem ptsd and weapon. Homeworld did a thing, and peeps got corrupted. What we don't know is if the corruption was the intended outcome, a fluke, an indirrect cause of gem PTSD in that it was horrific, or what the fuck.
Spoiler How sloppily did Steven kiss MC Bear Bear if that had healing spit in it? 'cause. Gross. Or does it just work through his lips?

And here we have "why the monsters are different from the cracked gems we've seen". aaaaaaaa HE GOT HER BACK TO HER CREW I'm. Really happy actually that he couldn't 'fix' her, but she was able to communicate, and he was able to get her back to her family, where she wanted to be. Does this mean the other corrupted gems can communicate too? WHATS THE META PLOT
Spoiler: Liveblogging "Damage from the Diamonds" seems like support for the theory that the corrupted gems are the result of the Diamonds basically decided the only way to end the rebellion was to use a superweapon, and Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are the only ones who could fit in Rose's bubble when it went off.
Spoiler: monster reunion oh my gosh centipeetle!!!the crayon backstory was really cute! and yeah, homeworld sent a big thing down on earth like a last resort, and corrupted the gems but I think, since they said "new orders to run away" that the in charge commanders told them to get out of range, but they didnt move quick enough and got caught in the blast directed at the rebels

Spoiler: monster reunion spoilers it seems pretty obvious to me that they're setting up for the future of steven being able to enter corrupted gems dreams or consciousness and heal their brain corruption there. also semi-verbal monsters warm my heart in a weird way. centipeedle was too too cute. i started crying when she started crying. i love her so much. kind of want to make a corrupted gem monster sona....
Spoiler: spoilers/speculation/gemsonas I feel Centi REAL HARD there are also moments when I only communicate in screeches. a+ crayon communication Steven. And also: so she was fighting against the rebels and got caught in her superior's own weapon? I wonder if that's one of the reasons why the crystal gems were reluctant to help her. Also also: Making corrupted gem versions of gemsonas is super fun and I heartily recommend everyone do it, I made one ages back and it was V. Entertaining.[/spoilers]
