Spoiler: mr greg thoughts I...is it implied that Rose and Pearl were in a relationship, despite Rose not loving Pearl? because if they were, that's fucked up. and also--I feel so hard for Pearl. I've experienced being in love with someone when they don't love you back, and then they choose someone else, and...it hurts. and I'm still not over it.
Objectively you're right and I get you but let me tell you about Spoiler: Jasper lust how much I would not mind villain Jasper, being sinister and forboding, forever. Please. -fans self- continue. And more seriously, she has been a pretty dynamic character lately. Despite none of it being off character, upon reflection, I haven't been able to predict like... anything she has said or done in her past two appearances. It's all shocking, unbalanced weirdness, at least to me. It's not like this character is going nowhere--I would have never seen "Alone at Sea" Jasper coming, I assumed that sort of descent into mutually abusive longing of the power they once had would be fanfic territory, not somewhere the show actually went. But yeah... what with her and Lapis being set up to be former toxic relationship mates, if she has a redemption arc, it will, or should, happen far away from Lapis. And it's looking less and less like it'll happen but I'm notoriously bad at predicting where this show goes. I would be super interested in this arc, honestly! I just wish I could muster up dislike for her remaining an antagonist forever but hoooOOOOOOOOOKAY ...Seriously though, Spoiler: Gem Hunt, slightly different topic What... is she doing? Like... why... is she collecting corrupted gems? Is she gather a pretty rock collection to present to Lapis and win her back like some sort of bird? Is she attempting TANTALIZINGLY TABOO gem fusions with corrupt gems who can't refuse her? Is this her version of Pokemon Go? IDK what she's up to and yet I'm for it. Also, for the record, Connie is the best. Let that just be stated. The Best.

Spoiler: gem hunt i know people like connie who really get into that end of the world survival training thing, i think they think it's fun on some level. it seems like it makes them feel empowered and in control. i really hope jasper doesn't try to do some sort of fucked up corrupted hybrid fusion thing. i was really creeped out by that last "oh they look at all my pictures" line, but that's probably a me thing.
Spoiler: gem hunt spoilers actually, kind of a toss up if corrupted gems could even fuse considering it seems to require some degree of consent. and uh, dance? so it seems more possible that she'll do some sort of uh. cluster situation? force those gems together? merge her gem in a cluster with them?
Spoiler: Hm I think the implication was that Rose loved both Pearl AND Greg? She'd love Pearl, and have flings with human men, until Greg. Then because she actually fell in love with Greg I think Pearl and he felt like they needed to fight over her, even if Rose loved them both. And in the end she became Steven. I definitely think that Rose loved both of them, up until the end, though.
Spoiler: bad jokes Okay this is awful of me but now I'm kind of imagining her with like, a glue gun, gluing the gems together as part of a weird arts-and-crafts project.
Spoiler: hmmmmm see, I read it as "Rose wasn't really in love with Pearl, but they had a relationship, and Pearl was fine with this because Rose never fell in love with any of the men she was with either, but then Greg came along and Rose actually fell in love with him like she never had with Pearl" and the two of them fought over Rose earlier on in the relationship of Greg and Rose because Pearl could sense that Rose was actually falling for someone for the first time and she got jealous and upset because she could feel Rose drifting away from their relationship, and Pearl was initially confident because Rose had never fallen in love with anyone, but then she fell for Greg.
Spoiler: wrt the monsters in today's ep that ocean jasper was so pretty, i fell in love instantly. those pretty green and orange spots, my god. damn they moved fast on this episode, it's already been taken down.
Spoiler I didn't interpret it as them being in a romantic relationship? I thought it was that Pearl was head-over-heels for Rose but not in a romantic relationship with her, and displacing it into a knightly loyalty/courtly love thing. She clearly was jealous and felt threatened by Rose's relationship with Greg and felt that he was competing with her for Rose's affection, but that could happen in a lot of different sorts of relationships.
Spoiler: huh see, I did interpret it as a romantic relationship. I interpreted it as 'Rose and Pearl eventually ended up in a relationship' mostly because of the 'fusion' and 'her attention' lines, and the way they fused in a non-desperate situation that time, and how there appeared to be a kiss right when they fused. but then Rose fell for Greg and drifted away from their relationship.
Spoiler yeah but previous fusions with the same gem type (the rubies) involved no dancing. consent might still be a thing though
Didn't the creators say that they wouldn't call Pearl's love for Rose unrequited? And there was that line 'you both love me and I love both of you' at the end, which I agree is probably not just Steven but Rose too.
