Spoiler: Crack the Whip I love seeing Stevonnie again A_A Poor Amethyst, though! They DID need you, without your advice there's a good chance they wouldn't have been able to do what they did. :( I think her new outfit design is very symbolic of how she's feeling right now. I think it's supposed to be jarring and kind of ugly.
Spoiler: crack the whip I viewed her new outfit as being really rushed - she wanted to get back into the fight ASAP to save the kids, but the kids ended up not needing saving, so she's stuck looking all beraggled. And yeah, I can see her echoing Jasper's look a bit after Jasper tore down her identity so much, though the only thing I can see there is the jagged edge of her tank-top?
Spoiler Yeah, I think she definitely wanted to get back in the fight quick, so she just slapped things together... It's not as OBVIOUSLY bad as it was when she had feet for hands but it's probably going to have some flaw... Also I wonder if the white is more about grabbing onto memories of Rose?

Also Am seems like she's in a depressive slump atm anyway, and the kids helped bring her out of it a little, but then Jasper hit her right in the core of who she is as a Gem both figuratively and literally. Also when Jasper said "I'm building my OWN army", my brain autocompleted with "WITH BLACKJACK. AND HOOKERS."
Spoiler: Several recent episodes I really hope we get a solid motivation/explanation for Jasper's recent behavior soon. It's really bugging me that despite all these appearances recently we've got no idea what her current goal is besides "power."
Okay, there is plenty more to say about this episode, but honestly I'm just so excited that Spoiler: Crack the Whip we finally got the Stevonnie sword-and-shield fight scene we've been waiting for since Sworn to the Sword!! :D My brother and I had to pause the episode to gasp in delight. I agree they were a little off-model, but I can't bring myself to care under the circumstances. :DD (Also oh my gosh, the way they keep insisting that Jasper apologize first. These kids <3)

Ngl, I'm a little disappointed that her plan isn't "try to fuse with corrupted Jaspers", that had the opportunity for so much body horror. I find it kind of weird that she was so hung up on fusion, and now she's like "WELP, time to build an army". I don't buy the "Jasper in AaS was a water projection by Lapis" theory, I just don't think she can make colors like that. Jasper are you in denial about fusion. Are you building an army so someone has to fuse with you to get you to stop. Jasper what are you up to. Also, Amethyst!! Go talk about your feelings, a shitty thing just happened to you, you deserve love and support! ;0;
Spoiler: Crack the Whip I think I'm seeing the flow of it. Jasper wanted fusion with Lapis to make Malachite, not just any fusion she could get her hands on. But Lapis said nope, and Jasper stormed off irritated. Decided to imitate the other parts of what made Rose's rebellion successful; if fusion was a bust, then ~building an army~ is the next best thing. Stevonnie beating her ass sure threw the idea of fusion back in her face, though. And Amethyst... I'm worried about her.
Spoiler: crack the whip A friend on Plurk just noticed something with Amethyst: she was born in peace. She's like a gifted child who had an unchallengingly easy time with her work, and never learned some of the fundamental skills necessary for success... and now she's running into genuine challenges. Fighting against monsters? That she could and did do fine. Fighting against other gems? Pearl said once, with confidence, that Amethyst would be unable to beat her. Amethyst was the only one to outright lose against her water clone back when Lapis was building her tower to space. And now Jasper's beaten her up. The only gems she's managed to get a handle over on are Steven and Peridot; the kid who's still just coming into his power, and the young adult who's also been going basically without powers. If quartzes tend to think of themselves as good at fighting, with an aptitude for destruction and all, and Amethyst isn't managing that... Isn't contributing to the team, isn't offering anything that anyone else is...
