I really like this spoileriffic Bismuth post so I thought I'd share it with you folks and see what you thought.
Spoiler: Beta Also, on Beta, which I'm putting in a new post so someone doesn't quote the above and see this unintentionally... the Lapis/Peridot friendship feels really forced to me? Like, don't get me wrong - I really want the two of them to be bffs. But we saw none of them getting to be friends with each other - the last time we left off Lapis was pretty chilly towards Peridot. We went straight from 'not friends' to 'comfy friends' and it's Distressing to me because this show is normally so good about developing things more naturally. Hopefully the show explains it somehow in the future? I really liked getting to see Peridot nerd out about the Kindergartens, though. They're her element! She's good at figuring them out, and I loved seeing her explain for the others. Even if poor Amethyst must have felt awful by the time they found Jasper's hole. Though I do wonder how they know that hole is Jasper's, aside from 'Jasper is really good at things' + 'that hole is Perfect'. Amethyst is doin me a frighten and I am Very Concerned for my purble baby. :( Don't fight Vegeta Amethyst it literally never goes well.
Spoiler It honestly does feel like fanservice to me. Not like they intentionally looked at all the lapidot fans and thought "hey that's a great idea!" but the crew themselves are fans of the characters/lapidot and want to see them get into wacky shenanigans. I don't want to be "that fan" but the writing feels so off this entire arc. Lapis and Peridot are bff's out of nowhere and get into hijinks, and Jasper is a supervillain. It feels more like I'm reading fanfic then watching the show, and it's especially jarring when we've had really good episodes like Mr. Greg and Bismuth.
Okay, okay, but holy shit that's so cute and awful. Wow. Spoiler I'll be honest, I saw that coming from a mile away. "It always comes back to fusion" and all. Yeesh, hope everyone comes out of this okay.
Spoiler: Discussion of the Earthlings leaks The top screenshot from the post Liminal linked looks like we might (finally) get some information about WTF the deal is with pink diamond, too. In which case I'm super hyped, because 1) Diamonds are rad, and 2) that's been speculation-fuel since like, forever. Hopefully there'll be wifi on monday :C

Peridot feels like Friendship Is Happening! BECAUSE WE HAVE INTERESTS IN COMMON!!! WE'RE WATCHING SHOWS TOGETHER AND MAKING MEEP MORP TOGETHER AND ISN'T THIS GREAT??? FRIENDSHIP?? I MEAN SURE, WE HAVEN'T GONE THROUGH ANY DIFFICULT EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES LATELY. AND MAAAYYYYBE IT WOULD TURN OUT THAT A LOT OF THE UNDERLYING TENSION AND CONFLICT IS STILL THERE, READY TO SPILL OUT AT THE SLIGHTEST PROVOCATION!! BUT WE'RE BEING "FRIENDLY" NOW. LIKE FRIENDS DO. ...in other news i kinda want to canon review for peridot eta, my character type: uses capslock
Spoiler I'm not sure either. I heard the mee---orp part clearly, assumed that it wasn't words (but was some classic alien terminology-sounding thing), and meepmorp has a nice symmetry to it.
Spoiler Wait... ...that's wrong. Peridot doesn't hate Homeworld. I'm not sure Lapis does either. And it's entirely possible Lapis counts as one of the elites Bismuth wanted to kill. And even if Bismuth wasn't the one to put Lapis in the mirror, she still attacked someone who appears to have been a noncombatant. And then left her on the battlefield where she could have gotten broken, since it seems like Lapis can be broken by being stepped on the wrong way. Spoiler ... but why is Lapis comfortable being around Peridot. Last we saw she'd prefer to fly off to hang around a silo before sharing the same barn as Peridot and now they're hanging off each other? You can't just have character development OFFSCREEN.
Guys, could you please note in the spoiler titles how current they are, for those of us who are waiting on Beta but want to read and talk about Bismuth?
I was just rewatching Hit The Diamond to get my Rupphire fix and GOD all the Rubies are so good. My darling dimwitted children. I would seriously watch an entire miniseries about these goofs just bumbling around the galaxy, getting sent on "missions" that mostly serve to keep them out of their superiors' hair.
