Spoiler: back to the moon i'm still holding out for lion being pink diamond in a way i have.. other reasons for being more suspicious of him i do wonder if it was possible for her to have faked being shattered, or if something could have been done with her shards it would be neat if she was sympathetic to the rebels, had herself "shattered" and went into "hiding" as lion. anyway those were some damn cute rubies. i love all of them.
Spoiler: Back 2 the moon Also, WOW, Eyeball must be tough as shit for a ruby, to have survived since the very beginning of the Rebellion.
Spoiler: Meta I buy the 'same wavelength' idea of fusion. Dancing doesn't actually seem to be necessary, just physical contact and sharing the same mental vibes. And yet: fusion between different gems is verboten to the point of being unheard of, in Garnet's origin story. How do you forbid something that can clearly happen accidentally between gems? My thought: it'd require segregation between gem types. Close relationships and touching between gems of different types would mean intergem fusions would be a lot more well-known. So: if you're a ruby, you're ONLY allowed close contact with other rubies. That's pretty fucked up, and I wonder why it's a thing. Maybe because intergem fusions are reliably shown to be more powerful? Multi-Ruby seems to get the floor wiped with her whenever she turns up, and fusions between different gems are always powerful. The diamonds could have forbidden it as a threat.
posted me and my friend's full theory to Tumblr, y'all should check it out (major warning for spoilers from recent episodes though)
Spoiler: Back to the Moon Was not expecting Eyeball to be that old! It makes sense Rose shattered PD, but I'm sure there were circumstances leading up to it we need to see. Poor Steven, though. Also, I feel like Garnet likes the Rubies, haha.
Spoiler: More meta re: corruption healing It's pretty clear we aren't going to get an 'every gem's healed of corruption all at once' thing. It'd be confusing, it'd decrease the impact of any one character being healed and coming back. Part of the reason SU has such excellent character development is they don't spread things too thin by piling on a billion characters, and it'd be hard to think of any earthbound gems as 'minor' without a huge paradigm shift. And yet, Steven's eventually gonna get the ability to heal corruption. They've built that up too much for it to fall flat. So his ability to heal corruption is, in some way, going to be limited. My favored guesses at the moment: He has to know more about who the gem WAS, in order to fix them, or he has to fuse with them. Having to know who the gem was implies research on any scrap of info from the war or earlier, and it implies Jasper's going to be how they find out: he knows who she was before she became a monster. The other option also has a lot of potential. Fusion, as we now know, has a huge impact because it transmits corruption. Steven's going to have to put himself at great personal risk to save people that way, but it'd give him access to something fundamental about the corrupted gem that he couldn't get to from the surface. Maybe there'd be entry into an Internal World like the Malachite Zone. This is rambly, sorry! Wanted to get my ideas out.
I don't have the think brains enough to engage in discussion, so I'll give a quick, simple, non-spoilery review of the recent episodes: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
First time posting in this thread, forgive me. I've been keeping up with the recent episodes. Today's was Back to the Moon.. all I have to say is.. Spoiler STEVEN NOOOO D: why did the episode end RIGHT there
re: back to the moon ending Spoiler i was actually watching it live on cartoon network and i actually missed the first few minutes so when it cut to commercials after, you know, STEVEN FLIES INTO SPACE, i was like ??? THAT CAN'T BE THE END!? like i seriously thought there would more for a good few minutes after
Spoiler: Back To The Moon That makes a hell of a lot of sense. And I mean, the Cluster. Steven reaching out to them, trying to communicate, trying to say "no, you don't have to do this." A build-up of a similar theme.
I'm still sticking to the "Rose is Pink Diamond" theory here, and I think it's still possible that she created this scenario where it would seem like she was killing PD, and she lied to everyone or maybe even planned it so there would be people who thought they had witnessed the whole thing.
Someone i know thought th at the Diamonds were massive fusions and that Rose was a part that made up Pink.
Not all of the same gem have the same shape, look at Jasper's gem compared to the corrupted Jaspers, they're both Jaspers and have different gem shapes.
Spoiler Now I'm imagining Rose Quartz bursting out of Pink Diamond's chest like the scene from alien, and PD just shattering behind her.
but every Diamond we've seen so far has a diamond-shaped Gem. and the murals show them with diamond-shaped Gems. all of them. including the PD mural. it just doesn't make sense to me that PD's mural would have a diamond-shaped Gem if she didn't actually have a diamond-shaped Gem.
i teared up, she's so young Spoiler: sort of not really spoips for newest episode and portal 2 i had a flashback of wheatly getting sucked into space at the end of portal 2 and cried a little. i am very panicked right now, how is he possibly going to survive the harshness of space with his squishy human bits.
