Spoiler does that mean i get to have connie and the barn crew finally actually MEET on screen SU is so good about everything else that 'minor characters never interact outside of their plot circles' being a thing it does is kind of a peeve of mine
Spoiler: Imagine Connie, Lapis, and Peridot fighting off a threat to beach city Somehow getting on the topic of Camp Pining Hearts Chatting fandom even while popping monsters, nay, not just chatting, enthusing about it Start up a whole trend: when the whole CG crew goes into space, shit goes down at the temple
Spoiler And at the end of the episode, the CG crew comes back with the Rubies and they don't have to show them being retrieved on-screen, which would have messed with the pacing!
Spoiler: OKAY BUT What if it was a flashback-in-story-form episode, but like...you know the framing used for An Indirect Kiss specifically, where the Amethyst-cracked-her-gem thing was being told as a story by Steven but was interspersed with segments of him actively telling Connie the story in the present? Imagine something like that, but with Connie telling Steven about how she, Lapis, and Peridot kicked some major ass.
A thought: We know that Rose's shield was what kept Rose, Pearl, and Garnet from getting corrupted, right? But it seems odd that she'd be able to shield all three of them without a bubble (and it's possible a bubble wouldn't have been sufficient). Unless... Unless they were fused at the time. And if the temple is indeed a representation of a Rose-Pearl-Garnet fusion, maybe that's what they built it in honor of (assuming Bismuth didn't build it, which would also make sense)--a testament to their survival.
I'm really glad they didn't Spoiler: leaked eps try to rescue the other humans from the zoo. It's fucked up that their ancestors were kidnapped. (It's fucked up that Greg was kidnapped, although she did think she was saving his life.) But... it's been thousands of years. They live there now. It's their home. And they're really, genuinely happy. American shows usually go so hard for freedom over happiness that I was pessimistically expecting a mass breakout, and I'm delighted we didn't get one.
Spoiler: related thought, this week's leaks That might also be why the Rose Quartzes were removed/all bubbled - the rebellion is the likely reason, but gems who would resist that corruption and go on fighting homeworld wouldn't exactly be a thing the diamonds wanted around, either.
Spoiler: A thought about the last episode and being glad that the zoomans didn't go to Earth It looked at the end like the Famethyst is basically going to run the station now, with Holly Blue as their outnumbered shield against investigation. And the quartzes we saw go in the zoo, one they'd actually grabbed the humans, were doing fine at talking and reassuring. Maybe now they can come to their own new equilibrium, where any humans who are curious about the rest of the ship and want to move around can, and all those who love their peaceful directed life can, and something more like the indulgent chaos of the barn than the.... metaphorically dusty relic depository we see it being at the start. I just keep imagining them interacting more
My source doesn't say what date episodes are or if they're leaks- is That Will Be All the newest? If so I am FINALLY CAUGHT UP THANK FUCK
Uhm, also, guys, uh - I just noticed this, and I'm not sure if I'm crazy but Has anyone else noticed that in the opening credits, just before they go up in the warp-pad beam, it looks an awful lot like Steven does a Diamond salute?? No wait, I AM crazy, the backs of his fingers don't touch, but still that's clearly not accidental and I'm wondering why no-one's mentioned it before
Also also (and I am majorly sorry for the triple-post) I'm watching the episode after Gem Drill and I caught Lapis' comment of "That's just how it is with me." In light of YD's line about Lapis being for terraforming, maybe her kind have a bit of a 'bad luck/harbinger of disaster' reputation? Gathering up the water of an entire planet can make some really wacky natural disasters, after all. Also I'd forgotten how much I love her real, joyful laugh. She should get to use it more often.
Spoiler: Stevenbomb spoilers After the emphasis that Yellow puts on Function ("what's the use" is simultaneously "what's the function, see, these gems have functions" and "feeling makes us trail off and neglect our duties, what a waste." And back in Peridot's art display, we had "it serves no useful function, it just makes me ... feel bad!" So Peridot was pretty specifically exploring the antithesis of Yellow's values.
