Spoiler: feb 16 episode title/description That episode description!!! It looks like we might get the Connie + Peridot + Lapis episode after all??? 8D???
..... ok on the one hand: yay, episode we don't have to wait most of a year for! yay, connie!, yay, lapis!, yay, peridot! on the other: goddddd i do not want to see peridot and lapis who got men-in-black lightflashed and told 'you two are best of friends who have never done anything bad to each other, now go cuddle and watch the tv'
I'd really like a flashback episode showing the time they spent living at the barn, because most of it happened off-screen and it can be assumed to be when they managed to make up.
.....I am still kind of :///// about the way the Lapis-Peridot arc was handled. like, Peridot's apologies were....bad. sure, she didn't really understand feelings or proper apologies or anything, but then the thing to do is not to yell at Lapis until she feels forced to give Peridot a chance, it's to try and get Peridot to understand how Lapis feels and make a sincere apology and then maybe have them talk it out a little if they both want to. which didn't really happen. and I kind of get where Lapis was coming from on that?? like....idk, she's got serious trauma around interrogation and such, Peridot probably triggered that during her interrogation of Lapis, Peridot had super little understanding of Lapis or what happened to her or how Lapis was feeling or anything, and Steven didn't really Get It either and didn't help much in the end. plus idk but yelling at someone that they're not giving the person who triggered them massively and isn't really making understanding apology efforts a chance is. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not a fan. of course I'm also hugely not a fan of how the show has handled the Crystal Gems' treatment of Peridot....idk I think many things are screwy in the way Peridot and Lapis have been handled.
yeah seriously. there's ALSO how Peridot threw the very worst experience of Lapis' life in her face as a cheap comeback and nothing is ever resolved about that.
which part was that because I don't remember it once again my memory is kind of the worst and fails me all the damn time including now
ohhhhh, yeah, I forgot about that comment. I mean, I remembered the trapped-in-a-mirror part, but I forgot about Peridot's tape recorder comment. which, I mean, I think it was a not-well-thought-out expression of frustration that Peridot was definitely allowed to feel....but it needs to be addressed, yeah.
(haven't caught up with this thread yet, sorry if this has been covered) re: Lapis role Spoiler: another thought This would also be why Lapis is so incredibly powerful on Earth, but apparently doesn't hold a lot of social power in Homeworld's hegemony - not all planets have so much freaking water all over the place, so not every Lapis gets to be that powerful.
But - but they're short! And short people are, uh, children!! Remember? Children can't be butch because that's... sexualising them?... because gender presentation is always about adult sexuality and, uh... SHORT PEOPLE CAN'T BE BUTCH OK /s
TOMBOYS DON'T ACTUALLY EXIST, DEFINITELY NOT NOR DO SHORT ADULTS remember kids, u have to be at LEAST 6 feet tall 2 b a REAL adult uwu
So I was showing Mr. Greg to my mom, and she said, "You know, this is a really sophisticated show. I mean, it's geared towards kids, but these themes...like, Pearl resenting Greg because they both loved Rose, things like that? They don't downplay those. I think that's really cool." Made me smile. :)
