Spoiler: Change Your Mind thoughts i binged everything since Reunited today! i don’t have a whole lot of coherent thoughts, but oh my god that was so gooooood i forgot how much i actually liked this show!! that was so beautiful omg and tbh i think even if this was the series finale... i’d be satisfied. but i’m sure i’ll watch whatever else gets produced (if the airing schedule doesn’t piss me off again, that is.)
Spoiler yeah this is a very narratively satisfying place to end if they had to, and while im excited to see where it goes from here i also hope that later on down the line we're not like "yeah it should have ended there, let it die gracefully" :x
Spoiler: future Steven thoughts I am really glad for the idea of more series cause while the season did a pretty good job trying to wrap up as a potential end end there was an awful lot packed into those last few moments and it'll be real nice to actually see these folks go on their healing journeys. Jasper working out her shit! Please let me see more pink pearl being herself. Making sure they have found every corrupted gem and unpacking more war baggage now that more folks are on the same page. Buh. I love this show.
Spoiler: I hope we might get to go back to Homeworld and see some, like, Homeworld reforms? on how the place works and stuff? maybe see off-colors and fusions allowed casually on Homeworld... I also...really want to know how WHITE was made. if the Diamonds soak to like. help make new gems. where'd she come from? since it seems like she's supposed to be the Original First Gem? who made her?
Spoiler who or what made the other aliens? who or what made life on earth? it would be really interesting to see, but I don't know if they're going to go that far, or feel the need to.
Spoiler: Rewatching CYM Two thoughts - "Blue, would you give me a hand?" Who else had a split second when they thought Green Diamond would make an appearance? And yeah White's bewildered "But I'm supposed to be-" speech DEFINITELY fucking implies someone made HER to purpose as well. Welp. We gon' have to get even more cosmic, or I'mma spit.
Spoiler: Sugilite I've seen people complaining that Sugilite is the only Garnet fusion that doesn't break the fourth wall, or wondering why that is, but I think I've figured it out. She's trying, damn it. It's just that your screen is much stronger than she expected, and it's not going super well yet.
Spoiler: CYM I really feel some things were left unclear with Pink Pearl? I'm still... a little confused. I DID enjoy the finale but, ultimately, the resolution with the diamonds felt a bit rushed to me. I'm okay with how optimistic SU goes, but I just felt it could've used some breather in there. Especially for White, the turnaround after all that damage caused was a bit unreal for me. That said: Loved Steven's sequence where he was always himself, love Peridot in general. Love Connie and Steven being there for each other at the end. The fusions were fun. Do like the notions of a cracked flawed family and 'having to admit it's broken in the first place'... But one as fucked up as that still felt like it needed more time to explore it.
Spoiler: CYM spoilers okay so as previously noted, white diamond's gem becomes pink tinted after she gets embarrassed and while she does talk about the diamonds as reflections of her, she specifically calls pink "the part of me i have to repress" i'm wondering if white is actually a pink diamond, too, if only super super pale alternately, if white diamond takes on the color of whatever emotion she's feeling i dunno, i super need more of white, i have so many questions
Spoiler As fucked up as White Diamond is, now that we’ve seen more of her I find her fascinating. And a lot of it reminds me of... less than admirable parts of myself. Perfectionism, stubbornness, a desire to feel no emotion so I can Be Better Than That. And one thing to note is how she obviously isn’t very comfortable on earth, or doing what she’s doing to help the corrupted gems (and even the “normal” ones). Compare her expressions in the fountain sequence to Yellow, for example. She’s not entirely reformed yet. Then again, how could she be?
this might be totally off base, but I sort of got the same vibe from White's relationship to Blue, Yellow, and Pink as I get from Father and his homunculi from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Like that the other diamonds were the 'flaws' the original diamond expelled from herself to end up as White Diamond as we know her. Also I don't know if any of the diamonds can be considered redeemed yet. Steven got them to step off the path or abuse and oppression but the road to redemption is long and hard. guess it depends on your definition of redeemed.
I found some information according to which this was the end of the original story arc and season 6 will start a new thing, can anyone find the source for this?
I finally watched everything since Legs From Here to Homeworld and I have so many thoughts! For now you get this tho,
disclaimer (?? I guess): this didn't feel like a spoilery thing, but if others disagree, please say so and I'll put all this under a spoiler. so I guess some time ago, there was a Reddit, like, ask thing with Rebecca Sugar and two other folks from the Crewniverse. and in it, someone asked "if we encountered a Lepidolite, what would she be like?" and Rebecca's answer was: which is....interesting and leaves me with a lot of questions. for one thing, it seems that not only coloration but also personality (to an extent?) are influenced by what Diamond(s) a gem is made by. which makes me wonder how that works, especially if we follow the theory that gem placement also has some indication of personality--like, Peridot is green, so obviously she was made by Yellow and Blue combined, but unlike Blue and Yellow, her gem is on her forehead, and she...really doesn't seem to have any personality traits of Blue that I can think of. so like, how much does that affect gems in different batches? did some of the Peridots in her kindergarten take more after Blue and others more after Yellow? does which Diamond a gem takes after more have the potential to alter their hue--like, while Peridots all have to be green, could a Peridot taking after Blue Diamond more be....well, a bluer green than our Peridot? and is this why the Pearls seem so much like their Diamonds and also share gem placement and coloration with their Diamonds? did Blue and Yellow (and Pink, I assume) get to individually make their Pearls? were their Pearls the only ones made in that...idk, batch, and that's why they match so perfectly? or....does the level of matching to the Diamond that made the gems vary from individual to individual, and multiple Pearls were made and the Diamonds just picked the ones that matched them most closely? basically, how much does this effect a gem, and is the level of effect altered by anything, like how many gems of that type are being made at that time in the same place with the same Diamonds' components? also. does this mean that black and brown gems would be the result of all the Diamonds together? does this mean there weren't any pink or purple gems prior to Pink Diamond existing? and is this what Blue meant about the Rose Quartzes being Pink's? I mean....presumably if a Diamond of a particular color alone produces gems of that color, and that's the only way it happens, then what if the Rose Quartz gems were the first ones to be made by Pink and Pink alone rather than Pink and someone else, like Amethysts and Jaspers must be? literally her first solo project, presumably also her last. no wonder Blue would feel so strongly about them. and I mean....beyond the Rose Quartzes, the only pink gems we saw were Pink herself and her Pearl, and her Pearl is probably unique where the Rose Quartzes wouldn't have been. Pink's first mass-produced soldier type! (does this mean that Blue and Yellow had similar first projects? which gems were they?) also were Amethysts and Japsers and such new to Pink Diamond's arrival, or are there ways to get color combinations like purple and orange without her but just no way to make new pink gems? and how does Homeworld know where to place gems made out of new combinations when they happen if that's the case? is there like. a testing period. or is there just an overall assumption that like, if they're Quartz types, they're soldier types. also I guess this explains, like, how Diamond ownership is determined, probably? like....Amethysts are Blue and Pink's, so if they don't go to Pink, the second logical choice would be Blue. has White ever individually made any gems? did she ever have her own Pearl? also, if White made gems, would they also be completely white, or....given the way that White said that she contains the entire light spectrum, is it possible you'd get other colors from her? could you get a gem that's a rainbow-color from just White? or are rainbow gems made by all the Diamonds combined? what would that mean for black and brown gems? are rainbow, brown, and black gems all possible outcomes from combining all the Diamonds? and finally: does this confirm the theory that our Pearl was made with contribution from literally all the Diamonds?
