Movie! (I'm actually going to a friend's house for a movie watching party, and I'm looking forward to it.)
Spoiler: movie i don’t trust spinel, i feel like she is going to turn bad again. also i feel like this is a character that’s made to represent bpd but maybe i’m just hyperaware of that because i’m in spaces where we talk about it
Spoiler: mild movie spoilers AAAAAAAAAH the songs are so good! I can't wait till the people who know how to make sheet music construct some so I can play them. Just *clenches fist* songs.
Regarding places to watch the movie- it IS available, not all from legal sources. I think cartoon networks website has a legit one tho.
TtOkay, time for some more detailed thoughts on the movie. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING AHEAD. Spoiler So. First off. The songs were wonderful. "Other Friends", "system/BOOT.pearl" and "Change" were my favorites, but they were all good. Spinel was wonderful, more than I expected. I knew I wanted to cosplay her and I knew she'd be interesting, but damn. What a character. On that note, why do both the characters I relate to most on this show both have an obsession/unhealthy relationship dynamic with Pink Diamond? (related, despite everything she's done she's still My Diamond and I will defend her with my life) There were so many good comedic moments. Ruby's face when she swears to protect Sapphire, Garnet liking the spork (a fusion of two utensils), Spinel's goofy antics, Greg being... Greg ("Pearl, you don't have to do that! I own a car wash!"), Peridot breaking the fourth wall, Lapis casually joking about killing Steven. I... don't know how to feel about Steg/Greven. I think I'm just gonna end that there. The whole scene at the rock show was some intense Pearlmethyst fuel, and watching Ruby and Sapphire fall in love again despite losing their memories was adorable and sweet. And the Heaven and Earth Beetles. The tiniest lesbians. They're so small you guys. Lots of good gay content in this. Spinel's breakdown after learning that Pink Diamond abandoned her was both incredibly sad and incredibly relatable. I'm... not exactly a stable person. Not mentally well. So seeing her go from being so devoted to Pink, to trying to kill Steven, to being so angry and negative at herself for how she was acting, crying that she just wanted to be someone's friend, was very impactful. I'm glad she was able to sort of get what she wanted, what she needed. I'm just surprised it was the Diamonds. She has a lot of healing to do, but as long as she has some support, I think she's gonna be okay. I have a lot of thinking to do.
Spoiler so i'm just gonna have other friends on loop forever kthx Also, HOLY FUCK THE WHOLE MOVIE WAS SO GOOD???? Spinel was excellent and Steg absolutely killed me on impact (I had been spoiled on his existence but I was not expecting him to look like he did) and OPAL CAME BACK AND SANG AND PEARLMETHYST KINDA GOT TEASED (AT LEAST IT SEEMED P SHIPPY TO ME??) and literally everything???????????? I wanna write outsider POV fic from the perspective of one of Connie's would-be cabinmates at space camp. :P
Spoiler: spoilers, terrible jokes So we know now that Pearls imprint on whoever activates them. I guess this means reset!Pearl is in fact a baby bird.
i'm just so happy that su seems to continue the trend of having like. positive bpd representation that doesn't shy away from the Bad Shit We Can Do.
