So what's everyone's opinions n the ship bombs? I mean, personally it's probably just going to make me tired of a lot of those ships just like the whole selfie days make me sick of seeing pictures of people over and over, but ig for the most part it's kinda cool and I'm glad people are having fun.... .... And then there's the jaspis week. The poster for it literally says something like 'this is to portray the ship in a lighthearted, healthy manner' and I'm just like. No? Why? A ship doesn't need to be healthy for you to ship it, and in canon it's really not good for either of them. But people seem to feel like they need to justify shipping it like oh, only ship it in redemption aus or whatever. And I'm over here in the trash with my abusive, manipulative, awful jaspis stuff lol.
There is definitely a press to ship Japis in only healthy ways, yeah. :/ I guess in response to all the junk that went down a while back, with people spamming the tags and posting accusations and threats and junk.And I've been seeing a couple people talk about receiving threats and insults from Japis fans in defense of the ship or something, I dunno. The thing's a mess. I suppose people are hoping to clean up this section of the fandom's image a bit. But yeeeeah, it ain't really my style. At the very least, I'd like to see some of what goes on between cannon and fluffy Japis, but that stuff rarely crops up anymore. I've only seen the prompts for the Japis bomb, and they're all pretty toothless, honestly. Are the others a bit more creative about it?
Really? I'd never heard of people actually receiving threats from the jaspis fans, just seen people asking others to please not post hate in the tag. Or, in my case, sending very politely worded anons explaining why the whole "only abuse survivors can ships this" is a really bad rule. From what I've seen they're all pretty boring, which is disappointing. :/
There's one person who keeps posting anon asks that start off talking about how it's okay to ship Japis, and end with some sorta personal insult. So, there's at least one.
I dropped the steven universe fandom on tumblr so I've never seen the shipping bombs. I never thought I'd be the old and out of touch weirdo on the internet, but whatever happened to ignoring stuff that you don't like? Why do these tumblr kids want to sanitize everything so nothing hurts, nothing is toxic or abusive, everything is fluff, everyone is progressive, all identities are accepted and treated fairly regardless of their environment? I think there is a line, you know? You can say "I only want to look at fluffy stuff." or have headcanons where something like LGBT issues aren't a thing in those fictional worlds because those things can be comforting and a little bit of escapism is ok in the tough times we live in. But now thousands of people on tumblr are saying stuff like "if you enjoy toxic/abusive content in fiction YOU ARE A HORRIBLE ABUSIVE PERSON" and I don't understand it and I hate it. Learn to share your sandbox and stop throwing sand in other kid's eyes and tell them they deserve it because they wanted to dig a mote when you told them to build a castle. Play nice for fuck's sake.
fwiw i think both anon and the person who answered are wrong. jasper and lapis are both extremely toxic to eachother I'm pretty sure it's unfair to assign the complete blame to either of them.
Wow that really sucks that that's happening :c I mean I sorta get why it is because the ship tag was basically flooded with hate from the beginning and people are tired of it, but that doesn't make the insults necessary or okay. Also, absolutely agreeing with Ivy, they're really bad for each other. Like I can see creating fluff with aus and stuff, especially like human aus, but as things are now it's a really mutually toxic relationship(insert malachite toxicity jokes) and even if things do resolve well with the whole situation, even if the two of them both end up living peacefully on earth it's gonna take a long time for them to sort shit out I think.
to be honest I can't even well see that. I love these two jerks and i love watching them run each other into the ground and I think there is just a fundamental personality clash that would either lead to these two having a strained estranged silence or a really raging explosive kind of relationship. But idk, if there is a Jaspis fluff au that can prove me wrong I'd love to see it? I'll be over here where Jasper is the team captain of the girl's rugby team and Lapis is a cheerleader and they continually try to sabotage each other's performances over something really fucking petty.

Yeah, I'm not really into the idea that something someone does to save themself from harm cannot be abusive in any way. That feels very off to me. And fluff AUs feel like they loose to much of the interesting bits of both characters to me, but it seems like most of the Jaspis content these days is oddly fluffy. Like, there's some people and quality porn in that vein, but it feels eerie seeing that, like that one "Humansona" AU thing going around, like all the characters have forgotten who they are, but they all still look the same. I feel like I'm waiting for one of them to rotate their head 180 degrees and tell me to join them or something.
