Apparently the jaspis bomb is not allowing noncon/dubcon content in order to 'create a safe space'. First of all, why not just require proper tagging and read mores, especially since I think they're allowing any other type of nsfw content? Secondly, it's not really creating the safe space that they think it is, because not allowing that means possibly not allowing survivors to share their experiences. It's continuing the idea that that content is bad and wrong and shouldn't be shared. Third, when it comes to fanart, how are you going to decide if it's noncon or dubcon if the artist doesn't mention it? I just- there are so many things wrong with this. .... Sorry, needed to complain about this.

Spoiler: Connie's mom tbh this episode made me like her a lot more because she really didn't seem to realize that she was being too controlling and not actually paying enough attention at the same time, and she seemed like she's really, seriously going to work on that so that Connie'll feel like she can be open and honest with her. Idk, it was a lot of progress and I really liked seeing that(I didn't like her parents AT ALL after Fusion Cuisine. Now to see how her dad takes all of this though.)
Spoiler: more spoipers and also headcanons THIS. I've always gotten the impression that the Maheswarans genuinely want to be good parents, and that they do love Connie, but that they also have no fucking clue how to actually handle a kid. (Hell, maybe they weren't initially planning on having a kid at all--her parents look notably older than Greg, IMO (especially her mom), and since Steven and Connie are around the same age, it's possible that she was...erm...a bit of a late-in-life surprise.) ...Actually, I kinda wonder if the whole helicopter parenting thing contributed to Connie's social issues. We know for a fact that Steven is pretty much Connie's first and only real friend, and Alone Together seems to imply she has pretty serious social anxiety. Maybe as a little kid she was kind of stifled in that regard (unintentionally, I think, but still). Another thought, this time regarding the highly structured schedule Connie's parents have in place for her: Connie's another character who's always pinged me as potentially autistic. And a lot of autistic kids really do require structure, though not to the insane degree Connie's life has. If that were indeed the case, it's possible that they assumed from what they'd read and heard that overstructuring her life would genuinely be what she needed. Which is definitely sad, but also the kind of thing that does happen, and I don't think it's generally out of malice or poor intentions. TL;DR: I think their intentions have always been good, but it's also crystal-clear that they really, really don't know what they're doing. And I think it's a good step forward seeing her actually opening up to her mom--and her mom actually opening up to her, for that matter.
Spoiler: Yessss all of this omg. Alternatively, they could have really wanted a baby, and so they sort of ended up over preparing in a way, to try and make sure she'd turn out as good as she possibly could be. Also it pings my interest that you brought up the possibility that Connie might be autistic, since iirc mothers over like, 35 are or were more likely to end up having children with disabilities(can't think of a better word sorry) like autism. So, not like it means anything, but there's a little more support for that headcanon! But yes basically I love your whole reply and I wish I could like it more than just once omg. [\SPOILER]
