Spoiler: mtmte 53 I'm doing it, the guy that Dominus made his armor out of is going to be named Spoiler XD I'm WAY TOO PLEASED with this. And also, this is a really interesting fic to write, because okay. So when I'm like, sick or freaking out or injured or whatever, my first instinct is not to seek help like a sensible human might. Or even alert friends to my distress. My first instinct is to wander off alone and find a bolthole to hide in. SUPER productive, right? It applies more when I'm at, say, a house party, and I'm allergic to something mysterious in the air, and wander out into the winter night without telling anyone where I'm going so I can try to find somewhere to breathe (true story). But in this story, it really applies a lot to Dominus emotionally. 'Hmm, I am severely depressed and increasingly suicidal. Welp, I'm going to wander off into the frontlines to hollow out a dead decepticon and live inside him for a few million years. Oh hey there, sleeping husband, I love you, byyyyyyye' It's just really interesting. It's not a sensible way to act, so it doesn't make sense to write people doing that sort of thing very often. But... it's the way *I* act. So it's a lot of fun to put it down on paper. You get the thought process of 'yes, this sure is a stupid thing I'm doing. oh well, time to do it anyways!' And that sort of 'let's make a sneaky escape and find a place to curl up and die' mentality contributes so nicely to his downward mental slide over time. I'm just. So pleased with this. I've got a 700-word plot outline, so who knows how long that will actually translate to being on paper. I've only got like 300 words so far, and I'm torn on whether I'm going to keep writing or do some cross-stitch, but I'm having a gr8 time.
Spoiler: Dark Cybertron Chapt 1-5: Liveblog -YAY THE LOST LIGHT. I'm unreasonably happy to see these guys again. On the other hand, I absolutely hate the heavy ink artstyle for some of the lost light sections, it makes my brain itch. -It took me a long time to figure out that the Titan wasn't the same one that talked to starscream earlier. Why the heck did they both come out of the ground? It must be a titan idiosyncrasy. -Necrotitan's vast glub conveniently doesn't kill anyone important - IT would have been funny if the Necrotitan had just flicked Starscream back to the city in mid rant. - Metalhawk does a heel turn, kinda. He's probably being controlled or influence by mystical badness of shockwave or the ore? Metalhawk says that he joined Shockwave to get revenge, but that dosen't jive with his old beliefs. Being undead must make a bot more malleable. - I choose to believe that starscream is phenomenally gifted at being able to tell who will betray him in the future. He killed Metalhawk and threw Scoop in jail, both of them ended up turning against him. In metalhawk's case, it was more of a self fulfilling prophecy. - Why are robots coming out of Megatron's chest. Was that really necessary, Shockwave? Did you just open a portal there so you could have a chuckle at Megs expense? -Rodimus is a mature, adult robot. -Nightbeat Sherlocks Cyclonus' feelings for Tailgate. I appreciate that they made one of his horns look slightly malformed. The little tidbits about the culture that Cyclonus sprung from are tasty. -I missed a big chunk of what happened in the dead universe with cyclonus and nightbeat the first time around, I'm looking forward to seeing the whole story! @spockandawe You should name him FenderBender
I'm pretty sure this is part of it! Cyclonus was being manipulated at least partially for some of the phase one stuff, plus Galvatron had control of the Sweeps, who were like, zombie clone things. Plus there's the dead universe stuff here, and Metalhawk, and whatever is going on with the necrotitan, so I feel like it could have been deliberately written that way.
I was thinking about it, and death is such an odd thing for the transformers. The only way they can die is if their spark is damaged. Every single part of their bodies can be replaced except for that one thing. Undeath for them almost has to be the reanimation of their spark, or outright replacing the spark with something else. You could have robots with the same memories and experiences, but with fundamentally different souls.
I'm making frowny faces at skidblast latest meta. Spoiler: spoilers mtmte 49-53 apparently people wanting Megatron to you know maybe help them not die - and completing ignoring the fact that Rodimus has massive issues and has been made to have to go against what he wants for the greater good more than once - is ...something bad against Megatron? I don't even know. Like it's a really complicated issue and doesn't really relate to as much to trying to change yourself as a human in peace times? I don't even have the energy to rebuttal it or deal with how people would take me rebutting it.
Spoiler: MTMTE 53 I mean, "fight so everyone around you DOESNT DIE" is sort of selfish, but not in the 'your recovery isn't convient for me because I liked you better before' way. It's hard to properly contextualize things like Meg's recovery and push for pacifism without the hostage situation pointedly at hand. Because make no mistake, this IS a hostage situation. And yes, it IS cowardice to say 'we need to defend the organics' when you have no intention of following through. Which isn't to say that Megs is wrong for being hesitant to compromise his newfound morals-- but comparing 'use your life threatening addiction to fuel my curiosity' to 'stand up and fight because you already convinced the the rest of us to' is dishonest imo.
Spoiler: 53 I'm not even sure with Rodimus' it's 'to fuel my curiosity", I think the big huge issue with Rodimus is that he doesn't get that self destructive behavior 'for the greater good' isn't the best thing. Not that it makes his enabling Chromedome okay but I don't buy it being the causal disregard others have because of his history and that Jro has already shown that Rodimus has very little sense of self worth. /tangent
a thought. Spoiler: current mtmte arc regarding the organics, staying behind to defend them vs. leaving with the transporter.... why didn't they just..... take the key with them? "if we leave them behind they're dead," said skids, but.... why would the DJD even know that the organics were there? no one knew they were there until they found the key and went looking for the door. why not just... put up the stormshield, lock the door that leads to fleshies, escape through the magic door, and take the only known copy of the key with them? come back later, once they've been rescued? i mean, i realize the answer is "because that wouldn't be a very good story," but. >:| admittedly tarn could probably blast his way through the door with his handy-dandy double fusion cannon, but why would he? once the DJD found a teleporter and no rodsquad, they'd work out what happened pretty quickly. why linger? >:|
Dumb robot biology thought. If cybertronians in IDW G1 are all born from hot-spots (or split from the matrix) with no direct triggering by other cybertronians naturally (Thanks Nova Prime!), being prompted by what is very likely divine will but being physically formed from the living metal of cybertron itself... ...are they like, biologically, all the children of either Cybertron itself or the Matrix?
Yeah, I was like 'so if they're the kids of the planet and Primus is dictating this and Primus is probably literally the planet everyone is Primus babies.'
My fav speculation/personal headcanon is that the reason the hotspots pretty much stopped was Primus (or if you go with the theory that Primus/Cybertron spark is/was the energy in the matrix) / the Matrix got fragging sick of them relying on 'him' for new sparks etc instead of starting to self populate - and that maybe there HAD been some sparklings as we think of them but then Nova Prime and the anti organic stuff gave rise and well having your own young is rather organic isn't it? @meowtini on the rocks can tell you I can go on about sparkling theories for days. And have.
That always seems to be their problem. There's some alliances with humans in G1 but it's on a really shaky definition of 'alliance'.
Yeah, I mean look how given a certain view of things from Cyclonus that Tailgate was ready to be a 'con. Megatron tends to be either a) too crazy either from Dark Energon or various other things or b)hates organics almost as much as Optimus. (on a side note I really wish we'd gotten the original script/plan for the first Transformers movie where Sam was you know a kid)
I was under the impression he was off the series for good. I'd been wondering if the upcoming movie and the Bee movie will be soft reboots. He's got too many new toys to play with and kids to help get into the military through underhanded mean and isn't the newest one being filmed right now?
I'm mid-fic (only barely, but still!), but I did take a break from writing to do a quick picture! (spoilers for mtmte 53) Spoiler: mtmte 53
Seriously? Last I'd heard he'd drop it! Ugh. I'd been excited too. I don't want to see more creepy "this is the girl I have a boner for this month' on the screen Bay.
