I swear to god the stupid curly straw was the worst thing to draw in the entire picture. I resented that straw so hard by the time I was done. And bonus trivia! Spoiler: mtmte 55 The half-seen assistant is the white/orange/black decepticon dude from the necrobot's rescue puppies. Because once Tarn was in charge of the DJD and making his list, he remembered about his old Grindcore assistant, who was so close to putting the pieces together and figuring out who keeps accidentally fucking up the body harvester and no one must ever know--
Heavy spoilers for issues 35-38 of MTMTE. Spoiler: In a cave behind my house I found the ruins of a softer world you know what you do is wrong the hero's journey. that is too many words to tattoo on your penis I can make a sad face, or a happy face. Anything I want!
Spoiler: 55 One of the TF people on my dash is having a real struggle with the time travel loop part of Censere saving people and I'm like...so let me tell you about Homestuck :V
Spoiler: MTMTE 55 Yeah, Homestuck broke me so fully on the implications of time travel plots, alternate timelines, and stable time loops that none of the time travel stuff in MTMTE is confusing. At all. Thanks, Hussie!
Spoiler: 55 Homestuck is definitely up there, but to date '-All You Zombies-' is the most confusing piece of time travel fiction I've read. If you can follow that (it took me two or three readings) you can follow anything. :P edit: If you Google it, caveat that it's a Heinlein short story and has some, uh, problematic trans content.
Spoilers for Sins Of The Wreckers, gross bodily functions. Spoiler Are there any theme parks that don't mind if I shit myself?
Here's a really interesting post on Tarn, Tarn's narrative arc, and why some people are disappointed with the reveal. (Spoilers for 55) Spoiler: MTMTE 55 THOUGH GOING BACK TO MY MEAN OLD DOMINUS AMBUS THEORIST REAR, I think that Tarn as a 'big reveal' wasn't ever meant to be that big. Because how fandom was treating the Tarn Reveal wasn't 'who is he' it was 'which theory is correct'. I think it was very intentional the way that Glitch was seeded throughout the narrative but not given full narrative support. Part of the reason why it would have been such a bitter pill to have Tarn be Roller/Terminus/Dominus is because all of those three were large, distinct personalities, and some aspect of them never quite fit with Tarn-the-person (and ofc the weirdness of 'which one is going to be revealed as the outlier' being the unstated background noise to the entire thing.) And Glitch... wasn't. Glitch was a nobody. Glitch was a background character. Glitch wasn't the old, true start of the Decepticon ideals with ties to Megatron (Terminus) or the close confidant of Optimus Prime with an inferiority complex (Roller) or the refined aristocrat who had already pushed to have the disposables labeled otherwise (Dominus Ambus) he was... something that could be all three. Glitch could play at refinement, because there was no reason for him have that chance as an empurata victim. Glitch could worship every aspect of Megatron and the original writings, because they were what he had, rather than a personal connection. Glitch could hurt OP (because he was clearly someone within degrees of the inner circle) and could be accessed easily through Shockwave. Glitch was a nobody. Tarn was a somebody. And I realized that I think I like this reveal even better than any of the theories because of that. Roller, Terminus, and Dominus were already Somebodies-- so they didn't need to be Tarn. (On the flipside, it was really nice to have all three of those brought back and given closure. Terminus, Roller, and Dominus aren't missing anymore. And they aren't Tarn either. Because the two were never dependent on each other.)
That makes a lot of sense! Spoiler: MTMTE 55 You also have to consider this isn't as big of a reveal in-character. Characters want to know who Tarn is, I'm sure, but that applies to all the DJD. Furthermore, the only character to have any sort of long-standing relationship with Glitch probably already figured it out (and then forgot it). Skids was in the Academy with Glitch, presumably training together as the X-men, and I believe he noted Tarn's voice was familiar in Grindcore?
Ahhhh, THANK YOU! I was having the worst time articulating why I was so satisfied with the reveal (and I think it helps that I was never involved in the which-theory-is-correct debate on tumblr), but I was very satisfied and still am, and in addition to all those other closures, I got closure on a character I never expected to get it for. These are some excellent words!
Spoiler: MTMTE 55 Thinking about it, there's a lot of cool parallels with how the DJD went out this issue. Consider: - Trailcutter accidentally trapped himself in a bubble with Kaon after deliberately saving Vos' life, knowing what Vos had done. This compassion then resulted in his gruesome death. It's fitting, then, that Vos (and the others) are killed via being trapped in a panic bubble with a scarier, stronger mech, Megatron. If Vos and Kaon hadn't killed Trailcutter, Megatron couldn't have killed Vos that way. This is direct narrative retribution for Vos that splashes over onto the others. - Megatron probably won't be able to use his antimatter abilities in the same way, due to them being contained by the bubble in that bit. He needs a way to both contain them and to get out himself to go all-out, so it's not actually that OP all the time. - Tarn kills Kaon for showing compassion and therefore 'weakness' in front of other Decepticons. This ironically spares Kaon from the humiliating, terrifying death at the hands of Megatron everyone else got, although it's possible if he'd lived he would have fucked off with Nickel. By showing compassion, even in a really weird, twisted way given what we know now about the Pet, Kaon is both killed and spared. - Nickel was rescued by the DJD directly after the Prionese massacre, and has been relatively isolated ever since. Nobody goes to the DJD willingly, and I don't think she's left their side, so frankly it seems likely the only people she's interacted with more than once since everyone she knew was killed terribly was the DJD. This is until Tarn makes a deal with Deathasaurus, and suddenly she's dealing with a lot more nuanced people. The conscious bomb probably had something to do with her ditching, but frankly? While I'm not taking away her agency with being part of the DJD, the whole situation seems a little Stockholm-y, especially since we don't know exactly how the DJD found Prion so fast. As soon as she's presented with other options and viewpoints, she fucks off and ditches them.

Hey guys, I'm trying to put together another MTME character post and I can't for the life of me find that one conversation where Ultra Magnus talks about distrusting metaphors. I thought he was talking to Nightbeat during the Thunderclash prewake arc, but I couldn't find it there. If this was Homestuck, I could just do a word search, but alas. For your amusement, here's the post so far Spoiler: JustULTRAMAGNUSthings JustUltraMagnusThings Giving a six hour lecture on the importance of a semi colon. Speaking in the third person. When you can't resist the urge to tidy up. Having a few hangups about your size. When you can clear the battlefield by clearing your throat. Smiling was the worst experience of your life. Being easily distracted by bad grammar. When you best friend can only say one word. Confining the bloodthirsty warrior to his quarters for stealing your desk tidy. When your handwriting wins awards. Sometimes you just have to sing. Passing out after one drink. Distrusting metaphorical language. When "Fun" is the hardest word to say. Being called "An OCD control freak who uses learning to hurt people." Punching your way out of your own corpse. Winning a diplomatic negotiation using only section headers from the Tyrest Accord. Standing up to the person who gave you your identity- - and getting killed by them- -Twice Being a good listener. "Tasty" I could use a few more good Mags quotes, All I've got is "Tasty"
It's in one of the text stories, in a conversation with Rung! But I can't pin it down any better than that, I'm away from home without a real computer
