a sudden thought: how do robots see anything in alt-mode

 

cameras?

 

au where none of them can see anything in altmode and constantly crash into everything when they try to drive

 

maybe thats the reason they have actual cockpits in their alt modes
their eyes are just sort of aligned with the seats and they see through the windscreen

 

Why do they have seats anyway in the canon where their altmodes are from birth? It doesn´t make much sense. There Should be cameras or eyes there.

 

i have been asking that myself for a long time, and, if anyone has an answer, i want to know it

 

I don't think there's a reason. I don't think they typically have much more than seats unless they reformat to take on an earth-based alt-mode, though. Maybe it's storage space?

 

I mean, my spaceship alt-mode OC doesn't really have seats, but she's got a lot of storage space.

 

Easier carpooling?

 

ACTUALLY, I think in the original canon it might be because they were created as a slave race, so vehicular seats could be for... carrying around their masters?

 

I think sometimes they can see out of their mirrors?

 

In TFP it seems like they can! Through they might also just be looking into their mirrors.
