Spoiler: ex-RID spoilers up to 50 That's a blind guess because I can't remember what issue it was that we found out Bumblebee knows what demagogue means and Starscream doesn't. At first it bothered me that Starscream didn't know a word that Megatron would probably throw around in his political rants. Then I wondered if Starscream selectively hears things like Buster: "blah blah blah Starscream blah blah blah," tunes in to see if he's being worshiped as is good and proper and/or if he's about to be punished, and then goes back to plotting. Headcanon accepted. Then I was kind of touched that he bought a dictionary calendar so he could understand what his own brain-ghost was talking about.
You know what's fun? Bots on the verge of starvation is fun OuO Spoiler: prowl/megatron supposedly-a-drone wip (original (sfw) art for context) When it lowers the empty cube, you tell it. “D-16, nod if you are at least ninety percent fueled.” Nothing. “Nod if you are least eighty percent fueled. Seventy percent. Sixty percent. Fifty percent. Forty percent.” And there, finally, it inclines its head. You curse to yourself. Probably the thing would have shut down in the middle of tomorrow if you hadn’t realized. You refill the cube for it again, and take two more empty cubes and fill them for good measure. The drone finishes the cube quickly, and places it on the counter next to the others. It hovers over them for a moment, and you realize it’s attempting to move the straw from the empty cube to a full one. Its claws are too large, though, and it can’t quite grip it. You sigh. “D-16, stop.” It freezes, still bent over the energon cubes, then turns its head to look at you. It reaches, slowly, for the next full cube. “D-16, I said stop.” It straightens and takes one small step backward from the counter. All you do is lean forward, move the straw from one cube to the next, and wave your hand at it again. “Go ahead.” It’s much faster to step forward and pick the cube up again. When it finishes this one and places it on the counter, it turns its head to look expectantly at you. Good, at least it’s capable of learning. While it eats, you have plenty of time to look over its new paint job. Just seeing it clean is a significant improvement, and the yellow stripes are even more striking like this. And they look so… menial, but the crisp, neat lines are far from what you’d expect to see on any used drone. There was more detailing too, that you didn’t even notice under the dirt and dents, curling scrollwork across the thing’s chest. You reach out to touch it. The drone pauses, and continues to drink. Engraved scrollwork, not just painted. Not something you’d expect to see on a construction drone, but you’re pleased. The clash between the elegant engravings and the thick yellow stripes is everything you could have hoped for. The drone finished eating while you were preoccupied, and now it’s just standing there, watching you, holding the empty cube in one hand. You look up at it. “Nod if you’re more than ninety percent fueled.” It bends its head, still watching you. By the math-- the thing must have been nearly empty. When’s the last time it was fed? Would it even have woken up in the morning? You still don’t know how fast it burns fuel. You’ll need to figure out-- something. Later. After you’ve recharged. (I'm at 4k and hitting my stride and just getting started and having a blast)
Very possibly! And this story in particular is going to have a really tight focus on Prowl and Megatron. I think the only other significant characters are Proteus, Swindle, Sherma, Momus, Decimus, annnnnnnnnnd Scalpel (repurposed another canon's medic) and that's really pushing it for the definition of 'significant' for some of those. Terminus... definitely could be a mindwiped drone too, though! Somewhere out there, just waiting to be discovered :DDD But what if POLY TREASON REFORM TRIAD! so it would be sometime in the future, way past the end of the fic, but something to do with prowl piecing together the old dedication in the first draft of megatron's treatise and figuring out who he was and then wondering if the same thing could have happened to him as megatron, but neither of them knowing how to do anything about it, and just, y'know. keeping an eye out. in case. But okay okay, Megatron's philosophical idealism being shielded from what happened in canon because now he has a high-society protector who's going to keep him safe while he does his idealist thing. Prowl and Terminus balancing that idealism both being pragmatists and strategists, with Terminus a little more connected to the philosophical side of things while Prowl is firmly on the practical side. Plus Prowl has had a fairly cushy life, shady back-alley weapons dealings notwithstanding. Terminus and Megatron might have their memories wiped, but they've got a shared experience of basically living life as drones and can understand what they each went through. But oh man, they don't even properly remember who they were from back then, do they. HUH. Oh my god, tho, there are so many interesting directions to take this, if I was inclined to longfic. I'm really not, my attention span fizzles out, especially if things come down to political wheeling and dealing, but oh man the possibilities. slash I'm totally shipping it in idw canon now and nobody can stop meeeeeeeeeeee
1) I just spent like 30 minutes trying to figure out whether John Rogers was the same dude who wrote Leverage. It wasn't helped by the Transformers wiki linking the wrong twitter. 2) I'm writing Transformers fanfic and I have come to realize that I say "fuck" a lot. I'm going to have to find/replace for fuck/frag at the end of this story. Let robots say fuck, goddamn it.
I'd actually love to watch, but I tried last night and the intro is so flashy that it triggered a migraine for me. Would it be possible to skip past that?
I am genuinely digging this MegOp playlist made up only of early '00s pop hits. Choice lyrics because I'm a dork. You once made this promise To stay by my side But after some time you just pushed me aside You never thought that a girl could be strong Now I'll show you how to go on Be my bad boy, be my man Be my week-end lover But don't be my friend You can be my bad boy But understand That I don't need you in my life again
Got to be honest, I read this as 'week-end lawnmower' and considering the franchise, that's worryingly plausible
