Something interesting I noticed: During the Tyrest kill switch, Ravage is affected. Which means someone, somewhere, decided to build a cat. I wonder why?
caaaasually recs this fic series it's a sunstreaker-centric mostly-gen G1-ish series and it's Real Good. sunstreaker is a moody aggressive traumatized vain silly disaster who trusts no one and likes no one, except of course for all the people he trusts and likes and pretends he doesn't. i love him. i'm nearly done the second fic of the series and it's gotten pretty prowl/sunstreaker up in here. that's not normally my jam but i'm Feelin It listen just. it's good okay, it's good and you should read it
...okay, this just popped up in my email (from forever 21) and I think I'm running out of excuses as to why I haven't started drawing humanformers yet. The Rodimus of these pants calls to me so loudly that I'm almost tempted to buy them irl (i won't because forever 21 pants are ten thousand years too early to defeat my thighs, but still)
Someone else might have the link I didn´t save it, but I know the DT chat had found the most horrific Rodimus jacket once. It was red and gold brocade with tassels and that sweatery cut that should never be combines with brocade.
Crossposting from tungle dot com because I caused myself pain (again) over my new supporting character fave and I need to share So, Crankcase! We all know this lovable bag of grumpiness, right? The main things we’re initially presented with are that bad attitude of his and the massive head wound. He gets more depth as things go on, even in this first issue, but those are the two things we learn about him. (and as a side note, everything Misfire says here blows by fast, but the framing of this dialogue makes it a very plausible reading that Crankcase genuinely is miserable. Looks like this crew is mostly down to Fulcrum and Spinister as the only two who seem to be doing 0kay) So we don’t get fed too much backstory. It’s there in phase one if you know what to look for, but what does Krok remind us about? Ooh, that does sound nasty. And besides that, earlier in the story Crankcase gets some interesting dialogue when the crew goes to visit Demus. Humorous! Hilarious! What a nice comedic reaction to the prospect of employment. Classic response to that kind of situation, especially as a wandering band of space freelancers, nicely delivered, with a good followup when Crankcase tries to lay out terms of employment with Demus and gets cut off at the knees. Now then… what exactly was Crankcase’s last adventure with steady employment? Ooh. And Krok told us how that went. But how exactly did it go down at the time? Well Thunderwing arrived on Nebulos with his fancy, nigh-indestructible body, and started wreaking havoc. The Decepticons on the planet were aware they were badly outmatched and unsure about what they should do. But they eventually decide that they ought to go out and engage Thunderwing. And it seems like the biggest deciding factor is the consequences they’d face for telling Megatron that they lost the planet. And how did that end again? Yeah. Just look at the job that does on Crankcase’s frame. That’s some pretty brutal damage. Given the timing of things, even if the rest of him has been patched up, I think it’s reasonable to conclude that that big ol’ head wound came from this encounter. Now, we know from Crankcase’s online boyfriend that he talks about Thunderwing a lot. So this is something that’s still frequently on his mind. And how does he react to seeing Thunderwing in front of him? That face… makes me very sad to look at. He doesn’t even manage a fight-or-flight reaction, he just completely freezes up and falls to his knees. I don’t think it’s at all controversial to call this ptsd. So put this all together. Crankcase feels sick at the prospect of a steady job, with responsibilities. The last time he had a job, things… did not go well. And an extra direct parallel is drawn between working-for-Demus as a job and serving-as-a-Decepticon as a job, when Crankcase demands triple the Decepticon stipend from Demus. When he was on Nebulos, he and the other Decepticons knew they didn’t stand a chance against Thunderwing. But it was their responsibility and duty to at least try to stop him, and it was fear of the consequences for shirking their duty that sent them into that fight. Skullcruncher made it out of there alive, but Ruckus definitely died, and Roadgrabber may be deceased too. On top of the damage Crankcase took and his own personal case of ptsd. Saying he ‘feels sick’ when faced with the prospect of having a job and having responsibilities is a humorous over-the-top reaction to thinking someone might want to employ him. But if you look closer, it’s also pretty darn sad.
that's amazing I... may have just bought the thing. Along with the prowl acrylic charm whatsit. Self-control what?? (I don't have a fambly to have pictures of to decorate my cubicle at work, so I'm just covering my workspace with transformers. I have one cross-stitch, one toy, and ten million charms (approximately), but I don't have any Prowl decor, and that is a situation that definitely needs fixing. I wish I could take pictures of it to show off, but cameras ain't allowed on the campus, so no luck :P)
Sure, those toys have a limited battery life. It definitely isn't because when you never feed a person, they eventually stop working :)
I saved it to my polyvore to gawk at because it somehow crosses the line from 'it's hideous I love it' to 'kill it with fire' despite retailing for ~$5k.
I actually read that as a blatant lie in another way, in that the people most likely to buy them know what they are and that they should be fed to be kept alive, but since they're marketed as torturedolls...
Aight here's the deal! I'm about to start DC I'm probably gonna go through a whole volume at a time instead of like liveblogging chapter by chapter since I already read all of this once. I'm also likely to cringe like hell at my first reactions to things occassionally because guys. guys i was so wrong when i first read DC. I said mean things about startscream. I was unfair about the dinobots. I knew nothing. But yeah I am likely to... actually understand what is going on? and be invested in things? amazing. And after DC I'll switch to PDFs instead of using viewcomics probably! Because I have the humble bundle and all.
The preview for LL2's out http://tformers.com/transformers-lost-light-2-three-page-itunes-preview/30722/news.html
Spoiler Oh my god, Terminus knowing Megatron's writings off by heart because it was literally like last week for him - my heart, my joy - And oh, awesome. Everyone has redundant altmodes. The Council members think they're Primus. THEY CANT RECOGNIZE A PLAIN OLD MACHINE VERSUS SOMEONeE'S ALT MODE AND THINK A MACHINE HAS TO BE BORN TO BE 'USEFUL' I'M AMAZED. THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANTED They're going to the Cog! Rung!!!
Spoiler: LL2 preview rewind immediately jumping in to argue with the councillor like goddamn fuckin go off man that was beautiful but also son you are doing me a frighten ...I was going to make a sarcastic comment about Roddy using outdated human slang but. In context of functionism calling someone a 'tool' is probably actually a slur. Yell with me about societal influences on language-- Some of the names on the List Of The Disappeared tho-- Ice-Vent? Zap? Cyclotron? What is "Ouic" the first part of? Transformer names are beautiful "you made the pretty one with the sword pass out in front of his conjunx endura" #confirmed also sorry not sorry for likebombing yall yesterday, I was sick and backreading seemed like a good idea :P
!!!! Spoiler god someone protect rewind and the others from, idk what they'd call it, delayed field recalls. Though if it came to a fight, this place has been stagnating and chewing itself up, while our crew had been through the wae. Pretty sure they could take the functioning goons. Also, anyone want to bet that 'only born machines are allowed' is a cover for 'we don't have resources for building anymore'? Plus that implies that everyone has been clamped with stasis transformers, doesn't it?
