I actually have intense anxiety that Lug isn't 'real' in LL and speculation about that makes me legitimately anxious which is dumb i'm so sorry
No no, totally understandable, it's making me anxious, just on a lower level than this sounds like! I'll go spoiler the not-real talk in the original post.
No you don't gotta! But for the future maybe. You knoooow, Spock, we've got a Transformers rp on here. :P
Note: Lug's build is apparently inspired by Titan's Return Rewind, so the cassette-like nature of her alt and her body are intentional.
yeah i'm super impressed that OP caught that!! BUT ALSO UPSET BECAUSE I LOVE LUG..... also @spockandawe i think she is a, uh.... seismograph?? a back-mounted seismograph???
Headcanon is that Anode just hot glue gunned on backpack straps with Lug's permission for SMOOTHER ESCAPES.
Hahaha, naw, I can't rp. I'm too much of a control freak, and I get spooked by real-time communications and skitter off to my hidey hole. I wouldn't know what to do with a character unless I've already got solid plans, and if I've got solid plans, I nest on top of them and don't have much luck letting other people touch. Maybe I could do it with practice, but I get disproportionately upset over 'thing happened when i wanted other thing,' and I don't want to cause problems figuring out how to adjust myself to work around that in what's already a pretty established setting. I do want to catch up with the rp here someday! I poked at the first ten pages or so of the ooc thread a while back, and I am already a bit OuO over Scanner, I'm just short on time and focus, so I haven't gotten around to reading the thing yet.
Iiiiiiiiiif she is a seismograph..... with data-recording capabilities.......................... then I think that makes for a good 'close enough for government work' cassette :3c If we take Soundwave's cassettes as sensory input -> recorded data, then Lug is a similar thing, just with an extra specialized sensory suite (seismography) that she focuses on. Brb, posting thing to tumblr so a record exists on my blog :DDD
Kind of like Rewind, where he's a legacy cassette from the old cartoon, and he's still basically about collecting and storing info, he's just not configured to dock inside another mech these days. I am really excited about this, oh my gosh.
As Scanner's longsuffering parent, I am pleased by this reaction to my trash son but also feel like I need to advise caution :P
Nobody but Anode has addressed Lug directly but everyone has been super busy and Anode is kiiind of a loud-mouthed attention magnet and if Lug is actually dead and there's no way to get her back I am. Ugh.
Oh, don't worry, every time I catch a reference elsewhere to any unpleasantness, the OuO only increases! :D
I am pretty sure things won't be quite this dire! Honestly, my money is on the busy/distracted explanation, but from a meta perspective, I don't think JRO would expand the very small female cast-- only to instantly perma-kill one of the new female cast.
-Shoves Lacuna the 240 year old minibot on the run from the criminal organization she used to be a part of at Spock-
Ooooh, I hadn't known that piece of backstory!! I love it! I am really excited by this setting and the characters, I just haven't had a chance to make time to catch up with it all yet.
Yeah, Lacuna was a Bad Girl. Fell in with a rough crowd when she kept getting stonewalled at legit ways to make a living and advance bc she's an Outlier. I totally made up there being a bias against Outliers on Devisiun bc we still only know the bare-bones of that colony, but I said it started out bc part of what caused the Titan-crash was someone's Outlier-power going nuts and then by the time that historical memory faded people were just like 'well, it's not their FAULT but they tend to be DANGEROUS.' Lacuna's got a lot of buried anger and some innate sadistic tendencies and a shitton of frustration with the way she was treated on Devisiun, and violent criminal stuff was a good outlet for all of those while being bad for her, as a person. Stentato was probably technically part of the gang bc he's Lacuna's twin but he didn't want much to do with it and they actually respected that. He mostly just helped cover for Lacuna. And since he's the actually dangerous one, power-wise, he and Lacuna intentionally kinda isolated him, and she's got a huge complex over having to protect him. So basically, they're small, they're cute, they're very very young for a Cybertronian, aaaaaand they're still bundles of issues covered up by seeming harmlessness and a deliberate cutesy, flirty facade on the part of Lacuna.
Clarification: my version of Devisiun has a strong cultural prejudice against Outliers unless your power is beneficial from the get-go, not difficult to control, and not physically dangerous. If you manage to jump through those tiny hoops, you're Blessed and thus obviously everything you do is lucky and you're a Primus-sanctioned Great Person. Otherwise you're Cursed and unlucky and dangerous and it's not your fault, poor thing, but please go stand far away from us and also maybe you did something to deserve this in your past life, we don't really have to feel bad about not hiring you. Soundwave would be cursed, as would Frenzy, Tailgate, Trailcutter, Glitch, Carnivac, and Mindwipe. Skids would be blessed, as would maybe Skywarp and Hubcap, depending on how quickly they got control.
:C Also Starscream does say the thing at Bumblebee about how Bumblebee has no idea what it's like to have everyone in the universe despise him. He doesn't say anything about Bumblebee not-despising him. So maybe Starscream wouldn't even count his own made-up hallucination as an imaginary friend.
