Imagine Optimus and Megatron being... nominally focused on Rodimus, but they've got so much baggage and poison between them that it turns into a jealous, passive-aggressive fight for his attention. Rodimus wants to please both of them so badly, but he's being pulled in two separate directions by mechs who want to win, and he's got such a long history of fighting alongside Optimus, idolizing Optimus. But he's been living with Megatron and working beside him and Megatron treats him as more of a partner than Optimus ever did, and they want him to choose. They're not saying it, but they want him to choose. Imagine Megatron and Optimus being so focused on each other that they don't notice Rodimus from good-overwhelmed to bad-overwhelmed. How long would it take them to realize, and how awful would they feel? Oh nooo, how am I already so invested in this, what is even happening
