Holy shit that moment after he made the renouncing-the-Decepticons speech where he just huddled up in his cell and Optimus walked away. YOUR MUTUAL UNCOMFORTABLE CRUSHES ARE MAKING EVERYONE UNCOMFORTABLE, INCLUDING YOURSELVES. PLEASE GET MARRIED SO YOU CAN HAVE OLD MARRIED COUPLE FIGHTS, NOT HORRIBLE WARS AND TRIALS AND WHATEVER OTHER NASTINESS YOU BOTH HAVE PERPETUATED. Also the moment when Skids tells him the hell off was great, and the talk he has with Ravage in the storage closet. Also the bit about get to the back of the queue. OH GOOD LORD I WAS SO UPSET WHEN I THOUGHT THEY BROUGHT REWIND BCK JUST GIVE US MORE PAIN WHEN THEY KILLED HIM AGAIN. But they didn't! And his moment with Chromedome was so sweet. Also, Nautica was fucking everything in these issues. Everything she did was beautiful. I thought the bit where they mixed up the panels to show time fuckery was neat, but I wished they'd done a little more with it. And mothefucking Brainstorm, really? Really? Uuuuuuugh. I kept having moments at when I started reading where I was like "But wait isn't he a bad dude?" and then I realized I was mixing him up with Shockwave because there's normally only one mad/evil scientist per story. But maybe I wasn't and I just got spoiled and forgot details? I thought I would never read Transformers so in CDCF I read spoilers with impunity. My absolute inability to connect names, faces, and events is serving me well here, because I don't remember most of them until they actually happen. Like, I think something bad happens to Tailgate and Cyclonus in the forties maybe? And that is all I remember. SPEAKING OF CYCLONUS how about that jealousy for Tailgate's attention/worried protectiveness he has going on here? I fucking love it. I live for that shit. As a random aside, I don't hate Whirl or anything, I've just been completely unable to connect with him as a character since he blew up Rewind and Cyclonus. Like, I'm like 'ooh that was neat' but I find that I can't cate about him one way or the other at all. Does he get some neat moments so that stops happening? I really enjoy liking every single character and I'd like that to happen again. If there's just one guy I can't care about I feel weirdly guilty. (I also feel that way about Getaway come to think of it. I just go "who are you again?' in every scene he appears in.) All right, I have a doctor's appointment to go to now, but when I get back I'm ready to let the pain train begin! Just fuck me up, comic. Ngl I need a good cry and I don't feel like watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon right about now. Quick edit: I also fucking loved Rodimus being a huge drama queen over finding his own body (dude I'd be kind of freaked too, but tone it down, except nor because you're entertaining) and Ultra Magnus correcting his grammar. Now I really do have to leave.
Spoiler: 30-33 whirl is deeply fucked up. which gets more and more obvious the more he is on screen. There is fucktons of hurt and grudges and panicked rage in his backstory from the snippets we get. He is suffering and he really really should be in therapy and get help and I weep for him. Getaway is snarky and fun with everyone but especially with Skids, but i always end up cringeing when he interacts with tailgate :') rodimus being a drama queen is so good. i love it.

I HATE ONTARIO ANYWAY!! i love whirl, so i'm super super biased, but. i guess i'm able to forgive the bomb for a few reasons. immediately before he locks cyclonus (and rewind, probably by accident) into the chamber whirl tried and completely failed to make a truce of sorts with cyclonus, who responded with a promise of a slow, complex, painful death. i'm fairly sure that rewind was just caught in the crossfire of whirl deciding okay, truce failed, time to implement an improvised plan B. NOT THAT THIS EXCUSES HIM!!!! it was fucking awful and just. bad. it was the worst thing by far that he has ever done on-screen in mtmte. and that's why he jump-starts rewind's spark, and why he doesn't acknowledge CD's effusive thank yous and promises of favours -- he completely fucked up and crossed a line and he knows it. i'm also super nuts about whirl because of his complete and total lack of self-worth and the fact that he covers it up with this cackling crazy villain schtick, and he's been doing it for so long and he's done such terrible things that he's not even sure if there's a Real Whirl underneath it and. and he's so self-destructive, and the first thing we see from him is a suicide attempt that cyclonus has the misfortune to interrupt, and. i love him so much. he didn't want to be a machine of war, he wanted to be a craftsman, and everything that wasn't violence was stomped out of him until he saw himself as a weapon -- and everyone sees whirl as a weapon, he's a blunt instrument to swing at other people's enemies and that's all, that's what he was made into and he doesn't know how to be anything else anymore, and everyone hates him and he knows it. no one is shy about talking about how much they hate whirl. OH NOOO i'm making myself so fucking sad, i love whirl so much :( :( :(

Spoiler: 46 Yeah, the Scavengers are so great. Just, the little folks who lost the war and now need to pick up the pieces, as opposed to so many of the other people in the comic who are little folks who won the war and now need to pick up the pieces. I don't think the Wreckers were considered as scary as the DJD. The Wreckers did a lot of stuff, yeah, but at least they would just kill you. The DJD were sadists.
Spoiler: MTMTE 46 GOD RIGHT earnest discussion of mental health and stigma regarding it and aaaaa what did we do to deserve such good writers. So much of their story lines deal with things like mental and physical disability too, I love it so much. Also Fulcrom/Krok is so good. Fulcrum in general is good, and I totally ship the Scavengers in a giant pile of love. Everything is pale leaning red and nothing hurts.
Yeah, we got that a few days ago here in Boston. Now all of the pretty flowers that were blooming over the past two weeks are dead.
