I know it's probably a little weird to be saying this in a Transformers thread, but damn does Revolutionaries have a lot of characters. Spoiler Also I'm not really sure how to feel about the Hearts of Steel tie-in.
Spoiler I love it because of how it actually came about. Dang, Shockwave, for a guy who claims not to care about your personality being overwritten you sure do it to other people a lot even when it's not the logical course of action.
Today at work I opened a Transformers comic at random and it was the INFAMOUS PAGE But no one ever told me that the reason Megatron was suddenly falling was because he got clocked by some kind of GHOST OPTIMUS that bursts fully formed from Ultra Magnus's (?) chest like Athena from the head of Zeus
What I'm getting from that is that at some point Optimus Prime was a cassette. Also which publisher is that?
The age of the art style suggests marvel.... which means I may own this comic............. I need to get around to doing some READING. There is important media I need to consume. Also given that dynamic posing, it sure like Optimus slammed fist-first RIGHT into Megatron's crotch. Also, given that I recently read a fic where Hound was a carrier (it Prima's Blessing) (nsfw) and now I'm thinking about Ultra Magnus and guys I think the an excellent new hobby is thinking about which characters should/could (schould) totally be carrier models
Also it definitely looks like Megatron let go of the Matrix when Optimus punched him, and yet in the next panel he's holding it while falling. ???
So I instantly forgot the publisher+everything the moment I set it down, but I went back today to find the comic and what I saw Shocked and Appalled me This is from IDW. This is from like ~2014-2016. They had this bizarre artistic crotch-fist punch mess happening at the same time as MTMTE and all our other faves
no no don't you see? Tom scioli's Transformers vs gi joe is a good thing. If IDW can fufill their need for 80's crossovers/ beating the dead horse that is GiJoe in side stories like this happy hot mess, which take place in AUs that don't mess up the ongoing plotline, then we're all better off. plus it gave us stuff like this
THAT'S TRUE. If they could set aside a whole AU just for crossovers, I.... would be a much happier person. And I still can't tell if I'm delighted or horrified (both? both is good), but if there's a whole setting deliberately setting out to be ridiculous instead of accidentally stumbling into it, because what even are the eighties, that could be a lot of fun to read. Also oh my god, I looked at that picture of the titans(?) like five times before noticing their staircase tongues. what even the heck. this is a thing of incredible beauty, but I am definitely also D: And also I have never needed to own something so badly in my entire life
im like 3 yrs late to the ramondelli party, but like, my favourite thing about ramen man is that like, he has a solid grip on how to draw everything BUT robots. if you check out his twitter, his stuff is generally pretty alright! especially his star wars work? but unfortunately, all that seems to go out the window when it comes to robots, and idw keeps hiring him also, this thing from /co/ is making me scream
OH, just put the pieces together on a ramen man thing! It's like, the eighties style. Makes me feel real good about my robot-drawing abilities, because they simplified shapes down like whoa and pretty much decided to ignore joints, which are hardest fricking thing and oh my god milne's joints are a thing of beauty. But if you look at the eighties art, then joints, what joints? We've just got lots of boxes in front of other boxes. They move, don't worry about it. It looks just fine as art, but look at the knees on the guy at the bottom. Those couldn't bend in real life. Even if there were bendy bits, range of motion would be zero because metal runs into other metal. Or those elbows on optimus and prowl. There's nothing BENDING there, it's just boxes changing angles. But then, look at the dreamwave comics This is harder to convey in a single image, especially since I'm not going to look for examples in any greater depth than the top google image results, but it's about looking ~*~DRAMATIC~*~ above all else. In a posed image like this, it's mostly just the poor, long-suffering perspective that gets the short end of the stick, but sequential storytelling absolutely suffers too. The Linkara review of one of these comics goes into greater depth. There's ridiculous, inconsistent proportions, lack of sense-making from panel to panel, all sorts of nonsense, even though things like colors and lines and detailing are all there. Ramondelli is the worst failings of both styles of artwork. The marvel comics were done in a simple style, but story flows, and it's easy to tell what's happening when the panels aren't over-cluttered. the dreamwave comics are flashy, but oh my god the guy who headed this (short-lived) venture did NOT care about competent storytelling. And Ramondelli decided to go for the simple style (underneath the camouflage spatter effects, he does simplify a lot) AND the lack of coherent storytelling. I struggle to get into the old comics, despite hearing good things about the writing, and I have no interest in slogging through the dreamwave stuff, and each of those has only half the problems Ramondelli has. They keep wedging him into series where I'm already invested and I've GOTTA read, but man does it drain the joy from me, and I resent them a lot for it. And him too.
3 Years Late to the Ramondelli Party is probably not a viable bad band name, but it could totally be a terrible album name.
New fic has been written, if anyone fancies reading introspective Aligned Megatron as inspired by Disturbed songs: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11932503
Whoops, I made myself sad If I ever remember how to use words again, I really do need to write a thing about why Megatron is important to this crew. I wants him back. Because one, if he's gone, Getaway wins. BOO. No. But also, if he's gone like this, Terminus wins, and I don't want that skeezy manipulative groomer to win anything. And it's tragic, and I don't like tragedies. But I don't want Megatron back just for spite, I'm worried about the crew, and about these two dorks in particular. If Megatron had left under more controlled circumstances, I wouldn't be so anxious, but both of them are doing me a frighten.
.......oh my god, it's a unicycle woman to go with the unicycle man. CROSS-UNIVERSE SHIP IS A GO. And she can even do the giraffe split Segway thing too, holy shit, they're really meant to be. Spoiler: bayverse Fighty motorcycle lady and her quiet unicycle doctor husband. I still don't trust Kaput, but MAN would arcee/kaput have a hilariously unique flavor to it. Kaput being the kind of guy whose standard of hotness is 'could they wreck my shit?', that's something I'd buy. They might have married for that unicycle #aesthetic, but this is a love story for the ages.
Consider that the other two Bayverse femcycles were supposed to be Chromia and Elita-1. Do you think Kaput would get along better with one of them?
