Shockwave and Dark Cybertron Spoiler: Dark Cybertron spoilers This is the way I read it. The shadowplay that was supposed to destroy Shockwave's ability to feel emotions seems like it was very successful. He seemed to read as if he were an inanimate object to both Soundwave and Ravage, who both found that pretty creepy. Even if I didn't entirely trust Shockwave's own estimation of his emotionlessness, I trust their combined assessment. Shockwave decided at some point that he was better off without emotions. No fuss, no muss, no confusion or complications. Just logic and clarity. I think he couldn't remember what it was like to have emotions. His whole Science Plan to End the World may have originated with Jhiaxus. I'm not sure how far back it goes. I think the Dark Cybertron prophecy was taught at the Jhiaxian Academy of Advanced Technology, but that was founded by Shockwave after the disappearance of the Ark 1 and Jhiaxus. In any case, by the time Shockwave executed his plan, Jhiaxus was deferring to Shockwave, calling him a pupil who had surpassed his master. I do wonder if this whole incident may have been responsible for the Dead Universe being dead. I seem to recall some mention of them using the whole time compression thing to drain the life from the Dead Universe from a point back in time before it ever began to live, harvesting the energy of all that stolen potential. But the regular universe seemed to recover just fine when the plan was thwarted, so maybe something else actually en-deadened it in the end. I can't remember if this was addressed elsewhere and I'm too lazy to look it up. Anyway, Shockwave's endgame was to create a utopia that made sense to his fucked up hyperlogic point of view. He wanted to compress all of time and space in the universe into a single point centered on himself, and Cybertron through him. No past, no future, just everything happening at once forever in a static eternity, powered by the destruction of two universes. No confusion. No complications. No change. Eternal clarity. What I think happened is that when time started collapsing into him, his own past suddenly became much more immediate to him. His past self and all those feelings and motivations were suddenly accessible to him again. And therefore also to Megatron and Optimus as they tried to talk him out of destroying the universe. It worked, so there's that.
so in my tradition of making up odd-ass ships and running with them, i came up with thunderclash/brainstorm, mostly thanks to spock's fic? Spoiler: nsfw, also looking at this now i feel silly first my brain was like "ah yes humiliation, very good" but then i thought of like, someone knowing that thunderclash has such a severe degree of imposter syndrome, and instead of tearing him down the way he wants to be, they keep affirming his accomplishments to him and eventually Something breaks? which then ofc, my brain associates this with brainstorm because i hc him with both humiliation AND praise kink, and all of a sudden, this, also because brainstorm desperately seems to want validation and others to be impressed with him, while thunderclash is acutely aware of how many people praise him up and see him as some sort of paragon and i dont know exactly where i was going with this and it sounds kind of silly right now currently but yeah thats a thing now in my brain and its? cute i think. brainstorm's already a gay disaster, why wouldnt he be into someone as accomplished as thunderclash? who knows
I'm going to be streaming Beast Wars in 10-20 minutes if anyone here is interested https://www.rabb.it/r/rune90 Warning, becasue rabb.it changed how the rooms work, you'll have to send me a request to join the room once you're there. There's no way around this besides making the room public, and I don't want randos wandering in.
I am caught up with Lost Light! And am currently starting up again with Robots in Disguise after the Dark Cybertron arc. ...why are there humans, get out of my comic about alien space robots.
Marissa is a good human, and one of the humans is slightly less human than initially seems to be the case, but... yes. Hard agree. (marissa is a good bean, and verity carlo is too. verity mostly features in phase one, but she's also in 'sins of the wreckers', which is the phase two sequel to the phase one miniseries 'last stand of the wreckers')
mmmmmmmmmmhhhhh I remember seeing a ramen man panel redraw a while back that looked like Solus and Onyx Prime (and...... another unrecognizable mech???? but honestly it's Ramen Man, they're all nigh-unidentifiable) anyway does anyone remember whether that was in the Optimus Prime series? bc I will struggle through Optimus Is A Dick if it means sweet sweet thirteen lore but otherwise idk if I really want to try that edit: this beauty @spockandawe as the artist in question do you remember what this was from???
ty o/ guess I'll.......... slog through OP then...... :') goddammit hasbro let me have robot cosmology in the robot-centric comics
....so I was going to look up some don figueroa art to make more fun of ramen man, but you know what? In these mouths, I think I've actually found something in ramen man's art that I legitimately prefer over don figueroa
