Spoiler: 51 It could be a) the symbol to be used for Heretic was deliberately co-opted/reclaimed by the Evolutionists (I'm gonna call them that now in accordance with the theory that they want to artifically induce evolution in the stagnant race of cybertronians) b) the symbol means something like Change or something, a relevant to the goals of the group And the giant spark thing looked very frantic to me! so i'd assume this was either a warnign or a cry for help! which is entirely a possible explanation for Thunders' visions too. He's being lead to The Symbol, not because those are the knights, but because the knights need HELP and have to rescued from whatever the Symbol stands for. and we've seen that trauma + radiation can mutate sparks. Thunders has been near-death for YEARS , literally living inside his life support machine ship. That might put him closer to the Afterspark and the Guiding Hand, allowing the Spark-being to contact him psychically.
Spoiler: 44 You know, I don't know how many times I missed this, but Swerve on Tailgate's shoulders taking a selfie with the Necrobot
Spoiler: i like hurting my own feelings by making worstcase scenarios Just think about Rodimus' face though if he finds out the Knights are in trouble and could maybe already be dead i mean the "distress signal visions" have been reaching Thunders forever now. It's likely that they are too late. He'd be so destroyed. "You were supposed to fix things!" he'd shout, angry. what if cyberutopia exists but has already been ripped apart by an uncomfortably familiar-but-different war? Imagine Megatron's face looking at a war-torn cyberutopia, losing the last glimmer of hope he had for redeeming himself in the eyes of the people who want him dead.
Starscream is the best and the worst. Stupid sexy evil-sometimes not evil Jet. Spoiler: Spoilers for ex-rid I love Ghost Bumblebee's conversations with him, and how lonely it shows he is and how Starscream very much wants to do what's BEST (if not always what is "good") for 'his' people.
speaking of theories Spoiler: 21 i GUESS PLEASE i want for this to be relevant, i want it so badly PLEASE let this be something that you could potentially describe as "psychic refraction". it's the funniest thing i could possibly imagine, PLEASE let drift's stupid theory that he was probably half-joking about be somewhat validated. please please please. imagine ratchet's face. imagine drift's face.
Spoiler okay but... i wonder what the message is supposed to be? from what we see it's something like "Oh Skids The Autobot!" [Something Important about Decepticons, possibly that no decepticon is here] and a sillhouette of a spaceship, i think, possibly, the Lost Light. => "OH YOU BELONG TO THE LOST LIGHT!" The Lost Light crossed out => "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE/NOT YOU GUYS THE OTHER ONES! (re: Thunders and the V.V.)/ STAY AWAY!" then The Symbol surrounded by five colored balls/lights => "something something the guiding hand and the symbol" this means either the Symbol is At The Center/Core of the five lights symbolizing possibly the Guiding Hand, maybe the knights, aka they are infiltrated and can't trust eachother anymore, OR the knights have surround the symbol, aka are threateing that organisation, which sounds like it's a cry for help FROM the organisation, maybe? I am unsurprisingly bad at decodoing messages :P
Man why does this damn comic continuity range from Stunningly Gorgeous to Literally Wiped Off My Shoe, it makes binging on specific characters really difficult.
Who are you trying to binge on? I've got a decent record of when people are drawn decently and when they're just painful to look at.
@IvyLB !! *recycles my own posts from a week ago, repeatedly* edit: Spoiler: 51 but now that i'm thinking about it with your theory in mind, the No Lost Light could just as easily be a "SHIT!! NO, YOU SHOULDN'T!" ALSO ALSO, the 5 shapes around The Symbol in the message correspond with the moons(?) surrounding skids, as far as i can tell! colourwise, i mean! (he is standing on the gray one)
MOAR THEORIES REGARDING THAT THING Spoiler okay okay so the theory drift stated was that the Knights of Cybertron evolved into beings of pure light. That form would have to come from somewhere, conceptually! and Skids described the being he saw as "a giant spark" So if the KoC evolved in a way that menat their Sparks essentially left their frail bodies behind? That doesn't mean they wouldn't be theoretically able to put on mech bodies again Meaning they'd be able to live among normal cybertronians. And there was all this explanation of body gloving. Also, That technology had to come from somewhere, didn't it?
Spoiler: 51 WELL THE LOST LIGHT IS QUITE LITERALLY LOST WHAT WITH GETAWAY'S MUTINY AND THE RELEVANT PEOPLE WITH THAT VISION AND THE COMMUNICATION ATTEMPT ARE ALL THERE Rodimus is leading, Skids is with them, Megatron would probably be the "!" Decepticon...
Rodimus because I am a parody of myself. I just plowed through Autocracy at mach speed and it was painful. I already read through Spotlight: Hot Rod and Spotlight: Doubledealer. I'm mostly just bounding around like a puppy with wiki access because again: parody of myself.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spoiler: 51 yeah!!!!!! yes yes yes!! we only know of two species that have sparks, cybertronians and quintessons! and quintessons have barely featured in the IDW universe so the spark-lookin' thing is PROBABLY cybertronian in nature, and the moons look cybertronian, and it's all very MYSTIC!! i really really hope that what skids saw was a knight of cybertron, OR the knights of cybertron as a whole. that would make me so happy. is it explicitly stated that tyrest's spacebridge is supposed to lead to cyberutopia, or am i misremembering that? and. hm. wait. wait. what was up with the fucking tentacles, i can't believe i forgot about the fucking tentacles is that supposed to imply quintessons?? aren't they pejoratively called "squids"??? ???????????? why steal a dead cybertronian body
Spoiler: 51 WHY STEAL A DEAD CYBERTRONIAN BODY? WHY TO REANIMATE IT LIKE A DERANGED ZOMBIE SOCKPUPPET AND USE IT TO FUCK WITH MORTALS NOW THAT YOU ARE A BEING OF PURE LIGHT AND POWER :'D and yeah it was heavily implied the spacebridge was supposed to lead to cyberutopia. if it didn't, well skids doesn't seem to care about the specifics.
He's so excellent! The Devastation and Maximum Dinobots miniseries have some awesome moments with him (spotlight: dealer falls in the middle of those somewhere), but it might be hard to follow those two without reading Infiltration and Escalation first. He does some dumb things I don't care for much towards the end of his time on earth, but then there's some interesting stuff with him later. Heart Like A Wheel gives some really interesting background for megatron/rodimus shenanigans, and then the parts of his plot that follow on from that are interesting too, though I've lost track of which issues they fall in. Spotlight: Wheelie is also some good context for some of the later things that go down with Rodimus.
Cool beans, I'll keep that in mind. I'd already decided to read Maximum Dinobots, so I should be able to pound that out pretty quick I think? Fingers crossed.
Spoiler: 44 oh wait shit you know i never actually picked up on the fact that rodimus was doodling the map on his desk WHOOPS. i don't know how that fits into my General Thoughts regarding .... *gestures vaguely at entire thread* but. HMM
Spoiler: 44 yeah and the symbol is outright stated to beon both maps, iirc. But given that he drew the same map as Thunders, matrix contact might open him up similarly-but-to-a-lesser-degree to the psychic distress signal
