Spoiler: LL24 I love that the involuntary transformation gimmick comes back after so many issues. Also what happened to Rung. Not a question, just a reminder to those of you who can feel emotions that we don't currently know for sure.
Spoiler: LL24 I really like that the Morality Lock isn't really about being a Good Person, but considering yourself Good Enough. That's why Skids was able to get through the portal. You did your best and while you know you did some Stuff, you're still trying and that's why you get to be a Prime.
Spoiler: LL24 SO MUCH GAY! AND BRAINSTORM/NAUTICA! Oh my god, wow. that anode/lug scene that i'm not going to retype because gotta go fast! 'you're one of the most decent people i've ever met' 'i know. me too.' THAT HAND-HOLDING ACTION!!! Good god, that was PRECIOUS. Swerve and Misfire both managing it TOGETHER, like holy shit? Holy shit??? The dialog has put misfire's self-loathing issues front and center before, and swerve got a whole issue about his problems, and THEY FUKKIN DID IT! Rodimus!!!!! Pulling it open with his TEETH!!! WHIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he's not alive next issue, I stg I'm going to riot And I really, really like the people who COULDN'T do it! Including the ones who didn't even try, but even more so for the ones who failed. Ultra Magnus might have managed, eventually, but even with that direct personal encouragement it didn't work out. And he's so strict and hard on everyone, up to and including himself, that I'm not... surprised, but I am touched. Megatron couldn't manage, even now, even knowing how to direct Rodimus and help him, and even after centuries away in the functionist universe trying to do as much good as possible. Which is PERFECT. For both of them, opening it would have been a fantastic character moment, but failing to open it is fantastic in a different way. It's a situation where like.... trying despite failing is really touching here. Trying to be a good person and failing to live up to your own expectations is really great. And juxtaposing Megatron and Ultra Magnus like that, it really feels like it's deliberately cutting the knees off this being a moral judgment of some kind. Mister genocidal warlord and mister intergalactic supercop both fail to live up to their own image of what they should be, and I love that. God, like, I need to come back later and put together more thoughts about the individual characters and what they chose to do and why, but I can't right now, too many Feelings XD And. WHIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spoiler: LL 24 Rung thinking of Skids and smiling right before doing something that he thinks is going to kill him (and probably did, we just dunno for sure) made my heart hurt. Do you think he's looking forward to seeing Skids in the afterspark?
Spoiler: LL24 Of course Ultra Magnus couldn't open it. He's just a soldier. He couldn't do it in 1986, and he can't do it in 2018.
Not on topic, but remember that Ravage (and Laserbeak and Buzzsaw) are not only beastformers without humanoid alt-modes or limbs with the proper mobility and shape to interact fully with a world made for humanoid transformers... but they're also cold-constructed. Someone did that to them on purpose. Someone did that to them on purpose and any person cold-constructed prewar could have been in a similar situation but for sheer luck. EDIT: Actually in retrospect only Ravage is confirmed cold-con of the three of them. But that's bad enough! Who hurt my boy??
Ratbat was retooled into a cassette from having a standard root mode. It also looked like his alt was a plane rather than a bat. So it could be that Ravage originally had a humanoid root mode before becoming a cassette.
Given how hard Ultra Magnus struggles with humor and sarcasm, how sincere do we think he was in MTMTE issue 2 when he said "but Cyclonus is happy, so that's okay"?
Not sincere. I think he parcels out lil bits of sarcasm bc he knows it's expected. Unrelated but I wonder if Velocitron has really long days compared to Earth.
I don't know, considering how badly he and Megatron failed at their witty banter early in MTMTE season 2. Also his recent spiel about hyperbole.
Spoiler I have had! Such thoughts! Which may be lost forever in the depths of my internet history at this point, but i need to see if I can revive or rethink them. I enjoyed the HELL out of their chemistry before, but this escalates it to a whole new levels and i really, REALLY want to play with it at greater length than a comic will allow
Spoiler IIRC it was strongly implied Nautica was non-platonically into someone from her mass Amica wedding and JRO confirmed it wasn't Skids, so given this framing when everything else is about reinforcing important relationships, the fact that Brainstorm is out there guarding Nautica and not, like, Lottie or someone, implies the answer is Brainstorm.
