Point one is that the bayverse movies continue to be packed with frustratingly delicious details despite michael bay being michael bay all over the place (in this case, I seek details on starscream's main priority apparently being the survival of their race) Point two is that oh my godddd, there are a LOT of tie-in comics Point three is that in movie... three? In the novelization, instead of megatron going along with sentinel's plan until carly's like 'UR JUST HIS BITCH' and then turning on him, in the book? Megatron joins up with optimus to face sentinel down together, all 'three shall stand, one shall fall', and then afterwards heads out to cybertron to start rebuilding instead of being... killed. Guys, I might need to suck it up and pay money for michael bay movie novelizations. I'm going through the five stages of grief. BUT. The reason I'm here. Is that I'm working my way through these comics, and there's some nice little things like a shot of bayverse prowl looking pretty good for a bayverse robot, there's a version of 'how bumblebee lost his voice 5ever' which is much, MUCH less compelling than the new movie version, scorponok is surprisingly hansom, though that probablyyyyy only counts if you think tesarus is handsome, and there's OH I FORGOT. Obviously the humans don't know megatron's name. So they keep fucking. Calling him 'megaman'. They're talking about megaman, working on project megaman, I'm pretty sure this isn't going to last much longer but I am sincerely dying over here. But the reason I'm here. Starscream holoavatar. I don't remember if the movie made it clear that this was starscream specifically, and it blows by much faster in a film, but I am in agony here, over getting a canon Starscream holoavatar... and he's rocking a pornstache. One of these days I really do plan to draw something that doesn't take paragraphs of explanation, BUT. Okay. Overlord.... is Miss Havisham. Because first of all, the getting jilted by Megatron. And then after the jilting, making her whole EVERYTHING about Megatron, and later on, bringing that anger to focus on Verity. Which is where things split a little, but like, their interactions in ROTW are fantastic, and that story was over too fast, and I would kill for the two of them to get more one-on-0ne time. Like, ideally the princess bride crossed with great expectations where overlord is like 'tomorrow, I'm definitely going to kill you tomorrow' and it keeps getting put off, but he's also trying to remake her in his image and teach her that megatron men are not to be trusted. Plus, Overlord in a dress. V important. (and honestly, it's kind of delightful seeing how many other stories I can wedge him into. he fits surprisingly well in a number of weird places. and I don't know what this says about me, but at this point, he's the robot I'm best at drawing. maybe udderlord needs original art of his own? when will spock be stopped??? i'm sleepy, my self-control has gone out the window) Spoiler: large, probably

Remember the ramen man redrawing experiment? I forget why I picked it up again. But I did. And at first tonight I wasn't planning to do colors. Then I wasn't planning to shade. Then I was planning to just do one layer of quick and dirty highlights. HA. Anyways, I can see lots I still want to level up, but this is a pretty solid way to balance 'but tell me what to make' against 'give me room to be creative', which is something my brain makes maximally difficult at every turn. I had fun, and I got to even experiment with character design stuff here and there. I like my alchemist and nexus prime much better than the original, loki/liege isn't a weird nose goblin, and I'm honestly loving the solus look I'm starting to feel out. AND I know it's not properly canon, but I got to work out proper centaur legs for onyx :V (asdfsd all the art ones were saved from the same place, i don't know why they turned out as different sizes. the tumblr post probably displays things much more nicely) (also i'm Conflicted about onyx's wings because you can't fly on frilly wrought iron nonsense, but it sure is a Look, so i chickened out of putting an energy field into the gaps. for now.) Art! Is a thing I still do, apparently. It's been 84 years..... Anyways, in my frantic art-archiving adventure (35k and counting, babey), I saw a tip for robot-drawing on Coralus's blog that recommended using lines as thin as you possibly can. In my hubris I decided that if I am making a soundy plush, I gotta make one that can Do The Thing, because I'm incapable of doing things by halfs, apparently.
So I'm super behind on tf femslash week, but I want to do at least some art, and this was a lot of fun! I managed not to get too hung up on details, and mashing up idw and tfa stuff helped me get through it without getting frustrated by joints and detail work. Sunday's technically the last day of the femslash week, and I don't knowwww if I'll do art (i'm signed up for half the day in a woodworking class and i'm desperately trying to finish a longer dratchet fic) but. HOPEFULLY. Maybe. But this was a ton of fun and I really want to repeat the experience!
I'm hoping to do at least one more of these femslash week pairings but i'm really getting mentally sucked into writing and crafts, so I'll have to see whether that happens :P But I did an art! I've been wanting to do something for nautica and velocity for ages, but I hadn't' been feeling the writing inspiration, so this was great Spoiler Also I have an alternate version of the lines, which isn't on tumblr yet (i may have to finally give in and do something about off-tumblr image hosting), but it's very important. I was inspired by a blackarachnia toy I saw, when I realized there's a major problem with all these woman robots.
