Also, I don't think I ran into this often in homestuck, but there are a TON of transformers people interacting with my posts with usernames like 'literallycharacter' or 'actuallycharacter.' I know I bury myself in my own corner of the internet and am not at all observant, but when did this become such a thing? And why? I mean, in the abstract, I know why. But in practice it still just plain doesn't make sense to me and it's just ughhhhhhhhhhh Oh, completely unrelated note because I am distracted and unfocused beyond reason: I apparently never processed the panel in LSOTW with Rotorstorm talking shit to himself about how he's even more of a tryhard wannabe than Ironfist. This miniseries is so heartwrenching in all directions, and I love it so much.

I'm 200% for this. I like it for personal reasons, because for me second (or first) person work best for stepping into a character's shoes, but just from a practical standpoint, THE PRONOUN THING, my god is it nice to write in second person. I get to dodge every single last one of those awkward pronoun mashup descriptors, and it makes the writing process so much more fun and laid back. I debated doing everything in third when I was starting up in this fandom, but I just gave up and said fuck it, I'll bludgeon them with enough content to force them to love second person.
once i tasted the homestuck i never wanted to go back :') (no but seriously everytime i think about one spcific one of my original verses and try to narrate it conventionally it breaks my brain. I actually need the ambiguity of 'you' also being a plural pronoun there so YEAH, not gonna try to do that in third, even thothe character the pluralism thing applies to is using they/them pronouns.) It's also just very easy to read in a way that first person (can be awkward) or third person (can be clunky) aren't. t just works.
Man if there's one thing Homestuck did good, it was breaking the second person narrative out of "Choose your own adevnture" stories and redefining it as a perfectly legitimate story telling view. I love second person, more than I do first actually-- it feels like you're allowed to have more outside introspection (if that makes any sense) with second than with first, because first requires a character to be self aware and second.... doesn't.
Homestuck ruined me, I actually find it difficult to write in third person now OTL (Also, whoever called Overlord "robot Grand Highblood," A+ assessment, I just started LSotW and am having so much fun watching him wreck everything.) Spoiler: does it count as a spoiler if it's in chapter one? "All weapons are trained on [the Decepticon ship] in case they try something 'hilarious'." The way he (ultra magnus? I am having trouble with all the big blue-and-white bots) says this makes it sound like "hilarity" is an explanation he's gotten from other 'cons for blowing things up. The murderclown association keeps getting stronger. edit: "[Overlord's] turned G-9 into a cross between a death camp and an amusement park." SAVE ME FROM CLOWN HELL, I DON'T NEED ANOTHER MURDER SON.

I was just flipping past a post on someone's blog when a quote caught my eye Spoiler: 47 "Whirl cares about Tailgate more than he hates Megatron." And this plays out right after he's told that Tailgate has thought his name is 'Nutjob' for years. Oh nooooo I'm so full of character development emotions now ;_;
