    Today I Learned that a few years back Fail-Fandom Anon did a giant woobie-off poll bracket to determine which of 256 characters was the woobiest, and due to the tireless efforts of a couple of evangelists Vanyel Ashkevron was rightfully crowned the woobiest woobie of all time despite not actually having been nominated. He was only on the list because the poll organizer had noticed how many times he showed up in threads about characters who suffer beautifully.

    I remember exactly enough about The Last Herald-Mage from when I read it when I was like 14 to be delighted by this.

    In commemoration of this achievement, somebody drew fanart of him being crowned with a teardrop tiara.
