This is horrifyingly offensive (tw racial slurs and edgelord violence) but the idea of a six-foot-seven pantsless guy in a scary metal mask being the character in the role which is supposed to revolve around being hard to notice has been making me cry with laughter all day.

Eventually, after 5 boring hours of this, the DM gets frustrated and tells us that we were "supposed to" realize that the key wasn't there and leave so that the story could progress. He has the nerve to act annoyed with US because we "wasted so much time" looking for the key THAT HE TOLD US TO LOOK FOR inside the pointless time-wasting puzzle fun house of a dungeon THAT HE DESIGNED. And when we pointed out that his NPC kept telling us to keep looking every time we were about to do what he wanted and give up the search, he had the nerve to say that we "weren't supposed to keep listening to him."

Where a high roll would be nothing, the next would probably be some drunk, then there's a flirty bard. A 1 though is this. "You step into the dark corner of the bar and before you know it you are showered with lights, a man at the bar calls out pointing over at you. "And now we have a new guest coming up on stage to read his Poetry!" At that point he has to either read poetry or buy the whole tavern a round of drinks.

Intrigued by this statement, I just say that my merchant have an eye on the wooden box, with their expert eye (jewelery and clockwork). GM tells me the type of wood it is in, gives us a long description of the craftsmanship of the box and the probable source of the rare wood. Which apparently tells us nothing useful about the item for reasons. I say that I inspect it further, shaking it, looking at it closely, investigating the mechanism, the seam, etc, to see how it could theoretically be opened. With no intention of opening it.

GM tells us I get no info out of it. That there is no seam, this is just one piece of wood with no default, with nothing moving in it if shaken.
