"Again, I'm so sorry about this," he said, with as much reassurance in his voice as he could muster. "We've recently had to update our online booking system, and there were some glitches. The tech department said they'd all been ironed out, but they must have missed one." He was rambling. He pulled himself back on topic. "We'll do everything we can to get this in order. In the meantime, I would be happy to book you in a new room overnight, on us, of course." Dr. Strand didn't blink, keeping his gaze on the shorter man, his jaw set but not locked. He didn't look impressed, but then, he seemed like the sort who never did. "That would be acceptable," he said, after what seemed like several seconds too long. "Great!" the word burst out of the manager's mouth with a little more relief than he'd meant to advertise. He leaned over the clerk's shoulder to look at the booking listings on the monitor in front of her. "We have a lovely suite just down the hall from your chosen room, a deluxe suite with a king-size bed and a beautiful view of the valley; would that do for you and your..." Oh dear. What was the polite word to use? The younger woman had waited for the older man in the lobby for a solid hour, and hadn't brought luggage. Her behaviour didn't seem like that of an escort - she'd spoken with him very seriously when he'd arrived, and while they were clearly on a first-name basis, they didn't seem to be the best of friends. Wife? Ex-wife? Mistress? Daughter? ... Daughter-in-law? Oh God. He looked up from the monitor in panic, trying to get a read on their body language to decide which direction to take his sentence, and saw the woman - Alex, Dr. Strand had said? yes, Alex - glance at Dr. Strand, who seemed to be deliberately not looking at her, and was in fact glancing 'casually' away from her in the direction of the atrium to his left. He flicked his attention back to the desk, and Alex, seeing the slight movement of his head, quickly looked away to the right, not catching that he was still not looking at her - but then he did, her head still turned away towards the hallway, and when she in turn looked back towards the desk he did his own rapid avoidance of her gaze. ... ex-wife and/or mistress were becoming stronger options by the minute. "Actu--" began Alex. "We'd--" began Strand. They both looked at each other and cut their sentences short. Another moment passed as they stared at each other. Finally, Dr. Strand broke the silence. "..After you," he said. Alex looked back at the manager and cleared her throat. "Actually, we'd... we'd prefer separate rooms." Oh for God's sake.

finally caught up with tanis and tbt and Spoiler: Newest Eps and silly theories So, TBT is just. I dont really know whats going down with alex but im starting to get concerned. ALSO, LMAO, THANKS TBT ITS NOT LIKE I SPECIFICALLY AVOIDED THE UNSOUND AS HARD AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE OR ANYTHING??? THANKS. Also oh man what's up with the deer legs, I know for sure thats a callback to that weird video a while ago. On tanis: I have a kind of out there theory about tanis, from this most recent episode. I'm wondering if, based off of veronica's surprised/horrified reaction to nic not remembering the convo, that tanis might have fucked with the timeline somehow. Like, okay. Veronica is a runner, right? Like, she knows the trade, she knows what to do, she knows what to expect. And from what we've seen, coming out of tanis kind of strange is to be expected. So why then did she react with such shock that nic didnt remember? If at the very least a person going to tanis would lose some of their memory for a while is something that happens a lot, then nic not remembering this convo must have been very striking and important to veronica. So what I'm thinking is that it didn't happen to this nic. Maybe it's veronica out of her timeline, or maybe it's nic. But either way, something fucked up and they don't have exactly the same memories, possibly starting after everyone accidentally turned around and the bridge appeared. I kind of hope Im not right bc lmfao homestuck was enough for timetravel tbh
