Obligatory "What's everyone doing for the Harvest Moon/Super Moon/Blood Moon/Total Lunar Eclipse Extravaganza" (27Sep15-28Sep15) Poll.

    Eclipse Time Info

--I have something going to hopefully help me towards a promotion, if I don't have results by the moon I'll probably try to give it a boost that night.
Side note can someone give me pointers on oil infusing because the spices I put in my hair for the interview had the side effect of smelling fucking incredible but oh my stars was it itchy.

    --Big batch of ward powder
--Prolly rebuild that ward plant that kept getting knocked over

May have figured out who that was, was not surprised. Apparently Dear Old Mom hasn't been happy about my reconnection with Dad. She actually called him yesterday (first time in +10yrs) to try and dig up information about me. She was soundly rebuffed.
    --Crystal charging (naturally)

Im not doing anything for it; full moon means increasing and plenty for me, while an eclipse is a sudden loss, so the influences counteract each other. That said, the supermoon is HELLA COOL and im def gonna try to watch it.

As for your oil, maybe the concentration was too high? What did you put in it? Things like cinnamon are known irritants on skin.

No oil at all, I brushed ground cloves, allspice and cinnamon into my hair like dry shampoo. It wasn't itchy like the oils in the spices were an irritant, the problem was the powder migrating out of my hair over the day, resulting in grit between my shoulderblades and down my bra :/

I get the idea of full & eclipse cancelling each other out (and I love that there's different ways to interpret everything!)

I see it as the full moon returning and overcoming an obstacle? There's a couple traditions where eclipses are spent firing arrows and fireworks into the sky to scare off the demon/dragon/etc eating the moon. (Chinese and Roman?)

That and I'm all about cyclic stuff and changing things over the course of a cycle (like, I'm all about reincarnation on an atomic/energy level) so an eclipse as "full cycle of moon's phases in once night" seems like highly potent stuff for me.

If nothing else I am absolutely going to watch it :D

Yeah, i absolutely see where other people would find it useful! Its just not part of my specific tradition, so i dont personally have any plans. Im excited to see what other people have planned though! (And can i say your interpretation is hella cool? Cause it really really is. :D)

A half-teaspoon of olive oil would keep it from shedding so much, but then you run into the chemical irritants problem. :/ probably if i were using that mix I'd either make an oil and rub it on something i was going to wear, a scarf or hat or something, or else put the crushed spices in a little bag id wear like a necklace/in my pocket.

I am SUPER EXCITE about the whole thing but I'm not sure if I am actually gonna do something because like
i dunno I just started even looking this stuff up
I'm definitly gonna stay up and watch it
That said my entire universty campus is getting assaulted by falling chestnuts and i wonder if anyone has ever worked with them before? I picked one up as a stim toy (they got the best shape for idly playing with) but now I remember I saw chestnut carving in a garden decor magazine and I'm wondering if I should go back tomorrow and pick some more up to actually do something with?
Has anyone any experience with chestnuts? (Idk if you could make runes with them? They'd prolly not survive a year though because chestnuts tend to go weird after a while)

ETA: unless anyone has trouble with the chestnuts drying out and getting a bit wrinkly they apparently don't rot unless you put them in water for a long time so I could definitly make one or two sets of runes for anyone here who wants em! I want to practice carving and because I'm a nerd I made plans to go collect a basket tomorrow and because I have zero experience (and they don't cost me anything since I go and collect them from public property) I'd make them for free OuO" Just PM me if you'd want a set and tell me which runes I should carve (ideally if you can link me a ref sheet that would be hella?)
(And maybe research on your own if you can have plant matter imported into your country because I have no idea how to even look that up and it'd be a shame if they got stuck in customs :U)

I am not doing anything this year, given that I've currently given up practicing to make up my mind about things, but good luck to y'all with all your plans and such!

I have no idea what this counts as but.

    There's a cat.
Her name is cricket and apparently she's been my imaginary friend since...
I could vocalize the concept, basically?
    And I dunno.
    She's just sort of there.

I just plain don't use moonphases. Like, my practice isn't regular enough and the moon doesn't have any special meaning to me anyway, so it's kind of a whybother for me.

Might watch it if it's not too cloudy out, though. That's always the problem with Washington weather.

Moon phases are how a good deal of my holidays are judged. Visakha Puja takes place on a full moon around the month of May usually, for example. I'll try and leave out offerings to my various gods on the eclipse because yeah. Strikes me as a good day to leave things out and divine.

Anyone work with sigils or runes? We're tearing up our carpet and replacing it with hardwood. In the process, we'll be stripping the floor down to its foundation slab. I could place protection on the very foundation of my home holy shit

However, everything I can find is all personally tailored stuff. I'd like more. Ehn. "Traditional" is not quite the right word, but I'd feel weird using someone's personal sigil even if it's free use?

X Celtic etc Rune = protection would be better? And I can adapt that?

Edit: I am a dumb. Sigils are supposed to be personal. Finally found a good how-to to make my own, and a source for runes that have me thinking "yes good this one"

Also I don't know who here follows my witchblog (if you don't: hey, I have a witchblog!) but I've been liveblogging my DJ Conway tarot book, because it's... something.

I don't know why, but I finally decided to pop over here and look around, and the first thing I see is this, and.

My cat is named Kricket. It would have been Cricket, but I added the K because her original name was going to be Kismet but it didn't feel correct. It needed to be Kricket. (Had distinct dreams for months that I'd find a cat at a certain place with a particular pattern, and wound up spotting her from a mile away soon as I walked in to aquire pet. Thus why she was going to be Kismet originally. Definitely fated.) She's a black and white domestic short hair brat and I'd be lost without her. Never heard of another cat, corporeal or not, named the same till now and thought it was neat.

No, the fused glass is someone else. I'm the "dreams of blowing glass, what is KILN MONEY" person. So I just blog about it a lot. Press my face into the rods I do have sometimes to remind myself how great it is, etc...
