the gayest skating anime (Yuri!!! On ICE)

Yes! I thought for sure that we'd be getting something last episode, but instead we got even less than usual. What is his deal? Someone on tumblr pointed out we know more about JJ's background than Victor's and it's making me lose my mind.

 

Two episodes ago I was like 'it's time, there's no way we're getting through this anime without at least some solid exposition about where Victor was in his life before he showed up naked in Yuuri's bathroom-equivalent. Victor backstory soon. Heck, we'll probably get an entire Victor backstory episode soon. You don't show us that many sad faces and build up that much mystery about a man's life and give us nothing.' But now I'm scared. Guys? There's not a lot of time left? Are you going to give us something about literally the entire ten years of Victor's life in between incredibly young international superstar and abso-fucking-lutely miserable-looking, affection starved adult? Please? Oh god

Actually, two episodes ago I was exclusively saying things like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and SOMEONE HOLD ME I LOVE THIS SO MUCH, so, I guess you could have called me 'distracted from the real issues.'

 

I should have taken it slower because now I'm caught up and have to wait! Sigh.

I guess now we know where Victor got the idea to be Yuuri's coach! Look at that blush, I love it.
There were so many things to process from this episode I don't even know where to start, but I loved every minute of it. I am definitely gonna have to watch again later.

So assuming those drunken shenanigans happened BEFORE that scene in the airport first episode, it's no wonder Victor looked so disappointed? Yuri was assuming Victor thought he was just another fan, but what if Victor was like HEY IT'S THE CUTIE WITH THE BOOTY FROM THE PARTY, HEY WANT A PICTURE only to be avoided....

Also this lays more foundation for Victor angst a la "I was in love with him from the start but all he sees is the hero he idolizes, not the man I really am" and so he plays up the persona, lets Yuuri frame all their homoromance as platonic work friendship idol and fan, and all the while he is LONGING for him enough to wander to the beach that reminds him of Yuuri's hometown to admire the ring, FUCK

as there is no way to exaggerate the emotional intensity of my reaction. I think I'll just type normally.

My dudes. My friends. Kintsugijin. The people who have watched me spam this thread since post #2. The only people who know how wrecked I have been for two solid months about this cartoon. Yuuri started this.

Holy hell. Holy goddamn motherfucking lord who made the world entire in six days, and on the seventh he rested. Yuuri started this. He thought he was pining from afar and Victor didn't know how he really felt. That Victor had no reason to be with him, no reason to be involved. Yuuri STARTED THIS AND DIDN'T REMEMBER. YUURI WAS THE ONE WHO DIDN'T REMEMBER THIS PROMISE. Through forces unknown to me and the rest of mankind (unless it was truly superhuman pole-dancing) Yuuri started a goddamn fire in Victor's heart, asked him to come home with him, and jetted off to Japan, leaving a wistful, enchanted Victor in his wake. Who supposedly thought Yuuri didn't mean it, or didn't remember it (true) or it was just drunken babbling, and why was he focusing so much on one stupid night anyway, it didn't mean anything and he shouldn't be thinking of it, he's just a competitor, and then, some time (but not much) later, that beautiful, heartfelt video went viral. And it must have felt like a fucking punch to the gut. Yuuri meant what he said to Victor. He meant it so hardcore. And it wasn't just joking flirting at the party, because his skating is so beautiful, and he means it. Victor could only assume that Yuuri had been thinking about him as much as Victor had been thinking about him.

And he was right. Yuuri didn't remember starting this, but fuck if he hasn't been just as heartbroken about it. That's why Victor was crying in bed after just moving to Hasetsu, because this is so fucking emotional, and no matter what, it's heartbreakingly terrifying to be in his position. Holy hell he meant this so much.

Lay me in the fucking earth. I can't take anymore. I'm just talking about my feelings about the tiny, precious sliver of Victor backstory I've gotten, I'VE NOT EVEN BEEN ABLE TO TALK ABOUT MY MOSTLY-NAKED MAN FEELINGS. AND THERE WERE A LOT OF MOSTLY NAKED MEN.

To be the licentious cad I am in my heart, how long into their married life d'y'all think they get before they're like 'are we ever having a three-way with Cristophe? We joke about it but are we? I mean he is That Friend we've both been naked with him I think we've both made out with him at parties?.... Are we though?.....'

And that picture of Phichit and Yuuri being dork friends at school like, the dork friends who are both gay and just get to be theirselves and unafraid around each other and proooobably listen to a lot of Lady Gaga, considering the date? I love this. Christ. Okay. I am in control of my emotions.

Thank you to everyone who has been on this journey to me I like to imagine it's partly my fault that so many people have been dragged screaming into Ice Skating hell. Where was I. Naked men. Victor and Yuuri are engaged. Yuuri motherfucking started this entire journey. He proposed Victor leave his life and go to Japan and be a coach for him drunk off his ass and almost naked and probably with Christophe still physically attached to him. And Victor really wanted to. So badly that the second he realized Yuuri actually meant it and he wasn't just drunkenly stringing him along (holy shit is that what he thought) he dropped it like it's hot, it being his entire life, and went for it.

If I'm ever sad again just remind me about this. I feel faint.

 

Exactly! It's not actually a "stereotypical introduction of gay/okama character" moment, it's because Chris and Yuuri share a special bond.
