    We all thoroughly enjoyed this moment, right?

    I've seen a lot of people referring to it as a 'you can't sit with us' moment which is hilarious but I also really, really like JJ's mental image of Yuuri as some sort of transparently gay princess type because oh, ok, I guess that is what he would seem like if all you saw of him was him skating his femmy Eros routine and giving everyone but his boyfriend the cold shoulder constantly.

    I just. Oh my god, JJ, none of these people are as threatening as you think they are. The terrifyingly talented 15 year old freaks out when he sees cat sweaters. Phichit is occasionally covered in hamsters (!!!) (how many does he have??) Chris is a giant doofus. And well, ok, I'm not convinced Otabek wouldn't stoop to murder.

  7. So, I read Victor's expressions in Ep11 very differently from the rest of you all, it seems. ^^;

    I agree 100% that Victor was unhappy prior to the show. I mean, in Ep 10 we actually got inside his head for a bit, and he talked about how skating took over his life, to the point that he didn't really have one. "[Competative skating] held me back" is what the subs said; I've seen folks on FFA and Tumblr say the Japanese is more literally "[Competative skating] was a shackle around my neck" -- I don't know how accurate that is, and if that phrase is as intense in Japanese as it is in English, but if so, ooof.

    But I don't see Victor as in pain or miserable during episode 11! I think he's nostalgic and maybe a bit wistful, but also just honestly enjoying watching everyone else skate. I think Yuuri's seeing his expressions the way y'all seem to be -- and I think Yuuri absolutely is convinced he's keeping Victor away from something he loves.

    But as for Victor, I think he's finding closure or resolution -- yeah, I could be down there skating, but I'm not, and I'm actually happier this way -- and maybe having some regret that everyone else is able to skate so authentically in a way he never was able to. (Victor's a skating god because he's very very very good in terms of technical proficiency, and showmanship. As in, he knows how to put on a show. He's always surprising the audience, skating for them... but never for Victor Nikiforov. He's never had that much time to find out who he is outside of how everyone else sees his skating, until now. )

    If Victor wants to be on the ice, at these moments in the GPF, I think it's more in the way a musician attending an orchestra concert might feel the urge to be part of the performing orchestra -- because what they are hearing is beautiful, or moving, and they know how to be part of the creation of that thing.

    And however else he feels about Yurio beating his world record <strike>with an impossible score</strike>, I think he's proud of Yurio for doing so. Yurio finally perfected the Agape program Victor made for him. That's a big deal! Remember, early on, we heard that Yurio never really cared much about practice, but after losing Onsen on Ice to Yuuri, he took it seriously. Look how far this angry kitten has come from "I'm too busy skating the program to think about agape/just let it end"! Again, in Ep10, Victor reflected on how his leaving skating was good for more than just him and Yuuri, it was good for Yurio, too.

    Right tho--I was seeing this whole 'oh wow Victor don't look good in ep 11' as like, a temporary (hopefully) downturn in mood Vic was having when faced with this amazing skating that's happening, when logically he knows his new life is much better for him and he's going to spring right back to that in a minute. I just have a thing for sad men and as such a tendency to exaggerate man pain for my own tear-drinking satisfaction. As always I hope people with lighter interpretations of ambiguous character turmoil are more right than my alarmist ass

    He could be thinking 'thank god I'm not experiencing this hell anymore' as likely as he could be thinking 'for a hot second I'm wondering why I'm not doing this anymore, I feel like I should be' when watching Yuri skate. It just... looks bad... after Yuuri made a few mistakes in his routine and spiraled into misery in like 5 seconds and Victor... didn't try very hard with the comforting? Viiiiiiiic

    (Luckily for me there is no way to exaggerate Yuuri's manpain. He's a mess)

    I am so, so glad everyone else sees what a massive sub Victor is, bless this mess

    "Victor proceeds to be exceedingly clingy. You’d be too if your hot boyfriend just made a massive public display of his ownership of you."

  14. Ohhhhh, okay, I got you. I have a similar thing with pining, so if you and your id want to roll around in Sad Victor In <strike>snow</strike> The Stands, then don't let me stop you! =D

    Well, Victor is bad at Feelings, and at helping other people Who Are Having Feelings. (See also his helpless idiocy in Episode 9.) And I don't think Victor quiiite gets how devestated Yuuri is over that hand down on the 4F. (IMO Yuuri absolutely sees it as having quashed/severely impaired his chances of gold, and hence of deserving Victor. Because Victor promised him he'd help him get gold in the GPF! And that they'd get married after Yuuri won the gold.)

    Yesss. In very #relatable ways, IMO. I love this series's treatment of his anxiety and self-esteem issues.

    Oh, the Japanese for that moment is very much a self depreciating "I will give Victor the gift of not having to be my coach anymore" type deal. I didn't realize people were taking it otherwise because of the poor translation.
