Almost 3 weeks later, I've concluded that the last episode of YOI got caught in the blast radius of my current brain nosedive and I'm going to have to rewatch the whole series when I stop feeling like an exposed nerve in general. As best I can tell, that last episode crashed head-on into the combo of a bad brain state and my personal damage about career decisions in the context of romantic relationships. And so instead of "Victor in episode 10 seemed like a person who was closing the door on a chapter of his life and ultimately okay with that, and I'm not sure I completely understand why he ended up making the split decision about his career" (which I think is roughly what I was trying to put my finger on the night it aired?), I got this huge explosion of I DON'T LIKE THING.

Because I actually think I'm okay with it now? Like, rationally? I'm just going to have to try it again when my emotions level out.

 

Question, guys. For someone who's gonna watch it over the weekend, which do you think would give me a better skgayting experience, English dub or Japanese with subtitles? Apparently the dub has accents and I like that.

 

I enjoyed them both! I think the dub got some of the translation nuances that the subs didn't have time for, and I also liked the accents :D However, if you are like me and prefer to watch everything with subtitles lest you miss half the dialogue, the subs are also really good.

 

I think I'll watch the dub then!

 

The protagonist is also a lot more dramatic in the dub, and it makes for a pretty funnier experience imho.

I wonder when they'll announce Victor's nedoroid release date. Maybe if they sell well we'll get Season 2 with Yuratchka, Otabek and Phichit merch.

 

I've been trying to stop myself from preordering the nendoroid. It's... it's not working. And now the Makkachin tissue case? But if I want to get both, how am I going to have enough money to buy a million different cute YOI stickers and charms on Etsy?! ;__;

God help us all when they give us the Victor nendoroid, if we're not all broke by then.
