@auxanges was telling me that people sometimes make plarn out of old milk bags
I forgot that Canadians drink milk out of bags
They recently passed a law in Washington banning plastic grocery bags and they're supposed to be phased out by 2020, so I gotta do something with that cupboard full of saved bags.
it's HELLA trippy and oof I feel that
I mean I still use 'em for like...hrm, actually, I feel like I could phase 'em out if I had viable alternatives? the main thing is Wet And Sticky Stuff that I personally do not wanna touch
also I know there's a good system for recycling milk bags in kingston...
Bag meta: gonna make a shopping bag out of all the used grocery bags.
Realtor texted last night and said the seller was going to talk to his listing agent about the offer today. Still haven't heard anything back. Hopefully I'll have some good news tonight, but if it will get us the property, I can be as patient as need be.
This guy doesn't seem like the kind to like pressure. Or people. I mean, he retired to a house boat....
Still waiting. Seller hasn't responded to his listing agent. Listing agent is going to try to call him again today. I feel so bad for the listing agent lmao.
So getting home from work was fun today...
I think Cringer is going (or gone) broody. She's been in the middle nest box all day and when I reached in to check for eggs she puffed up and growled at me. I'm letting her keep 5 eggs (marked them so I can tell them apart from any fresh eggs) and we'll see how she does.
She was out walking around with the other girls earlier having a group preen, but when I went to close them up for the night she was right back on the eggs. And apparently so defensive of the nest that Scorpia had laid her egg in the run rather than risk bothering a broody.
Side note but it's really amusing to watch a chicken flock just suddenly Decide to do an activity. And it's not any one specific bird that initiates the new activity that I've noticed. One bird will hop onto the perch and start preening and then one by one they've all eventually joined and started preening and talking to themselves. Then one of them will get bored or decided she's preened enough and hop down to start pecking and scratching for tasties and within a minute they've all joined her in the new activity. It's so funny, you can see why people compare groups of chatty old ladies to a flock of hens.
There was an overwhelming amount of peas in this pasta concoction, and I don't care for shelled peas in the first place, so I kind of ate around them and set the plate aside. And now Roxy is just helping herself? She's going ham on these peas. They are lightly coated in alfredo sauce but still. Would not expect a cat to enthusiastically chow down on like half a cup of peas.
We had a cat (Kitty) who would just eat plain cooked peas. Maybe they've got some tasty amino acids?
Maybe! They're starchy and have protein, and are pretty low carb. They're actually recommended as treats for a lot of animals!
Candled the eggs. All five have veins. A good sign! I'l try to get pics or video at some point. I'll give her a couple more days on them before I try again though, don't want to bother her too much.
Seller still hasn't responded to listing agent. Realtor and I are wondering if he's maybe just getting cold feet. Would be nice if he would just say something either way.
Good news though, Cringer is sitting very nicely on her eggs and they're all looking great! If they continue doing well we'll have babies some time around June 10th.
Finished the first spin of one yarn project. Dyed the 2nd yarn project. Finished seasoning my new cast iron pans and god I MISSED cooking on cast iron! Feeling very domestic and accomplished. I want so bad for this to be my daily life.
Babies are here!! All 5 eggs hatched and are looking good :D
goodness me but I love them chickies when they still have their gape, so cute
I have been told I'm not allowed chikkens in the garden. I live vicariously through this thread.
