The Grouch's Trash Pile [Baldur's Gate 3]

In one of my FFXIV discord servers, I mentioned having made a bunny version of Iolis and how it took a lot of willpower to resist fantasiaing, and tl;dr I was peer pressured into making a bunny alt of him on Primal.



He mostly exists so I can attend a wedding at some point (because it's likely the same restrictions on attending will exist for Data Center visitors as they do World visitors), but my friend was kind enough to make him a nice outfit and gift me some gil so I could dye it, so he doesn't have to run around in burlap sacks. I have been leveling him some, but idk if I'll actually play him much.

 

Yesterday J's brother drove us to Varusteleka so he could get some better shoes and various other sundries (mostly not survival stuff other than a couple of rain ponchos bc as I've said above, in a survive in the woods situation we're already kinda boned) and they had denim jackets and oh, how I pined. I tried one one and pined harder. I told J I was pining over them.

J: Well, you could get one.
Me: But they're expensive...
J: Yeah, but... do you wanna look cool?
Me: ... yeaaaaaah.... A_A
J: Then get a jacket!

I got the jacket, in black. It was ouch levels of expensive (esp since I bought a pair of jeans because I only had one pair, which meant when those needed washing I was down to lounge pants :''')) but damn, I look cool. I'll have to figure out which of the ton of patches I have collecting dust will look best on it.

The jeans are slightly less cool because the size that fits my ass means for wider legs than I like (I don't have chicken legs either, I just have a wide ass), but oh well. :/ For the price, I hope these last me for quite a long time -- my cheap 20€ jeans have made it something like 5 years already, so...

 

Winnessed. I've been dying to get a couple of new pairs of jeans from them, their tactical jeans are literally the best damn pair of pants I've ever owned, but quality... costs... the price...

 

J and I spent a couple of hours just now getting some quicklaces into his new shoes and now I'm sweaty, annoyed, and my fingers hurt. The worst part, by far, is tying knots in the ends and pulling them back into the end caps far enough the caps will click together. I had to fucking press, massage, and shove those knots so much that now the pads on my forefingers and thumbs ache.

BUT WE CONQUORED THOSE FUCKING LACES. Christ. (Something like this is the only way he can wear lace up shoes bc he only has one hand, so it was this or nothing.)

 

My poor abused fingers are almost back to normal. T_T

Meanwhile, I thought I might do something other than PVP this evening, but...



I'm not great at Crystal Conflict, but I do enjoy it a lot.

 

A bunch of my friends are playing Elden Ring, and it sounds really interesting, it looks really interesting, but I don't have ANY idea of whether or not I'd like the gameplay and no way to try it to find out, and that's super frustrating. :|

I put it on my wishlist so if it goes on a deep sale at some point maybe I'll get it, but for now I'll just have to sit here and be frustrated I guess.

 

Finally got up the gumption to write a "where's my money, asshole" (but in Corporate Blunt) letter to the CEO of the company that hired me to write the Necromancer story, and had to send it through Facebook because I don't have a Linked In and the company's website is long gone. The more I think about it the more annoyed I am about the whole thing -- they were supposed to contact me yearly but the most they did was ask me to help promote their new game on Twitter back when it came out (and like, why? I had a handful of active followers) before they just fuckin' vanished. I'm also annoyed at myself for letting it sit for this long. Despite my grouchy and confrontational nature about some things I am HORRIBLY avoidant about a lot of stuff and it always bites me in the ass.

I at least want to know where the hell the money from sales of it goes, because it's still up on Amazon for sale.

 

Two for three on rockheaded dark knights today =_= One was max level, the other wasn't max on DRK but was definitely not new it, but both treated mitigation as optional most of the dungeon and only half-assedly used their AoE attacks. Guys, I know they're early ARR dungeons, but you're pulling everything and taking All The Damage (and letting the DPS get chewed on), you need to pay some fucking attention!

If I wasn't a fake sprout they would have caused a new healer a ton of stress. I was tempted to say something but I have been increasingly grumpy through the day and didn't trust myself to be appropriately civil. Needless to say, they did not get commendations from me.

 

On the plus side, I got a random person in Limsa messaging me complimenting me on bunny!Iolis, saying he looks like a little prince. :3 He is very cute in his ruffly coat!

Bad news: I've been suspecting I react to canola/rapeseed oil, and now I'm sure of it. Relatedly, I also feel like crap.

Nothing like having something else I need to do to make me suddenly really, intensely inspired to write. e_e At least I'm working on something useful, and week 2 of this UX design course does... not look like enough material to need a week to go through, so I'm not really behind by starting it tomorrow. If the fee waiver goes through so the end of week quizzes unlock, I guess I'll see if the bulk of the time is from that??

In other news, I'm pretty sure most of the tanks on Primal are eating lead paint chips.

It would have been sooner if I didn't keep dragging him into PVP...

 

Iolis Bun got to 3.3 and I'm putting him away for a while, until the friend who wanted to start doing side content after blasting through MSQ pings me about said side content. I may or may not get him through more MSQ, and when DC travel opens up it'll be moot anyway and I'll figure out what to do with him from there. Maybe I'll transfer him to EU, who knows.

It's kind of weird playing him bc Iolis isn't Iolis without a particular kind of backstory, but his FFXIV canon backstory is very Elezen specific and it doesn't work the same at all if he's Viera. So with that and the cutscene skipping it's been more like piloting a pretty doll than playing a character. IDK, I'll think of something eventually, but for now it's back to my other characters.
