If they're not SMAPI mods, they're compatible. The real trick is finding where your game files are stashed, since what these mods are are straightup replacements of game files. This is the first relevant thread I found. (Always back up your original game files somewhere safe!)
Also: the first house upgrade is also a space warp, since your house is much, much wider on the right when you're inside, but the added width is mostly on the left when you're outside.
Clearly it's the House of Leaves. o_o Also, @esotericPrognosticator Like Mercury said, if you can find where the files go, I'll be happy to share! I'll also take requests from anyone in this thread, wink wink
wakes at about 8 or 9, when the house opens up. or, maybe it's that you can still interact with him when he's in bed? I don't remember. Quartz was easier for me cause I never found a void egg and didn't start getting obsidian till after I'd married him. i think i thought void eggs were a monster drop and would hatch monsters, so odds are I was looking in the wrong places to get one.
I still haven't read that book, even though I've been meaning to for years since it's a companion piece to Poe's Haunted album, and that's one of my favorite albums ever. (People seem to think the book is either amazing or incredibly pretentious crap not worth anyone's time and nothing in between, so I'm not sure what to expect. And I keep forgetting about it for years on end...)
I thought it was interesting! It's very long and creative, has a creepy atmosphere at times, and plays a lot with the layout and format of the text, and one day I definitely want to buy a full color copy for myself, just to have it Also, project mass expansion of kegs is a go. Thanks to my clipping greenhouse, I have a bunch of extra iridium sprinklers to finish expanding the outside crops, and I might as well rearrange the whole farm now that Robin can move building without destroying them /opens up the farm planner site/
Confession: I have a copy but I've never finished it. I bought it because my former roommate at college was reading it in class after I dropped out and it sounded spooky. One day I'll come back to it...
Mine, fish, forage (and then combine forage into winter seeds to plant and farm for more forage), chop down trees, mine stone from the quarry, socialize with villagers, dig for roots, care for animals, upgrade tools, clear space for future paths and buildings/put down paths and buildings while you don't have a bunch of grass and weeds in your way, redecorate your house...
completely clear your farm? and then construct a fenced-in grid of paths and plant like 200 trees for future wood supplies? that's what I did, anyway. winter is excellent.
Never worked on fishing, and all the fish cannon up and down at 57 trillion miles an hour in winter, got to the bottom of the mine already, cleared the entire farm in my spare time over the previous year, can't do much with the house, its still only one room (I had to neglect something) and haven't worked on animals, don't wanna start until i've got a silo. I suppose I could just farm the mines... [edit:] Also, I don't have any tree seeds. Which is a problem, because I can't find any oak trees. I only just managed to get a maple tree.
Cut down trees outside your farm! They grow back on their own after half a season or so, so they're a renewable resources. Not sure how many seeds they drop. Winter is also a good time to plant fruit trees if you can afford them. They take a full season to grow and winter is the perfect time to start them going. Make sure to keep the adjacent 8 tiles around them clear of everything or they won't grow. If you fish at the mountain lake and do short casts you're most likely to attract carp, which are the easiest fish to catch. The pond in the secret woods and the water in the sewer are also largely carp.
Plant loads of winter seeds and hope for crystal fruit. They're not as profitable as starfruit or cranberries because you get random forage from the seeds, but they still make mad bank if you turn them into wine
Does the bus only start running in year 2? Cause I ran into the "reached bottom, no more motivation to mine" deal too, and it's pretty easily solved by the bus.
I gather you cut down all the ones outside your farm as well? If so, yeah, you'll have to wait for them to grow back. If not, there's a number of oak trees in the forest and two at the bus stop. I know prior to 1.1 you could put tappers on trees outside your farm, but I haven't tested it with 1.1 yet - it's worth a try.
