I get so mad/upset when I see people talking about how they want to romance Emily but they don't want to get in Clint's 'way', as if him being interested means he has some sort of first claim on her. Such bullshit. Him not being able to get his shit together to so much as say hello to her is a him problem. It shouldn't be Emily's problem by proxy. >:T

Nah, man, I think your interpretation is valid. He's very much the dude who's too shy to actually DO anything about his feelings and then gets fanny frustrated when someone beats him to the punch. Like, him actually resenting Shane instead of just being disappointed in himself (which was how I read it) seems perfectly plausible.
