So I have been working up to a divorceggeddon run and @KathyGaele suggested I post pics here. Almost ready to start, only Alex and Leah not at 10 hearts and it is spring so I can finally nab the pendant. Debating on starting after I get Alex and Leah caught up so I don't have worry about the jealousy. Eta: also gonna see about kids, sacrificing, and having more kids. Not sure if the game caps at making two kids or having two kids.
Updated to the latest version, and I'm thrilled to see a storage shed and a mill. I'm looking forward to seeing how those work. I'm liking the hilltop map so far - although I'd forgotten how obnoxious the fishing minigame is without mods. I'll need to see about installing some later. Augh, I know! I've considered trying to make one, but allegedly the game isn't checking for how many people you're married to. Just if you're married at all. Which...makes doing a mod much more difficult, because I suspect fixing that would require going deeper into the code than any mods I've done previously have involved. (My previous experience is just adding creatures to DF and adding in other people's mods for that game.)
About to meet Penny at the bathhouse. I may be full of anxiety for the future but I'm still gonna be hella lesbians with this pixel lady SO THERE.
I have no idea who (if anyone) I'm going to court - I went for Sebastian in my other savefile, but I don't really have any objections to anyone else? I think? Asides from possibly Shane, and that's more of a "okay, you're very grumpy and keep telling me to go away, so I'm going to go do that" than any actual dislike of him. I'm very meh on Harvey, though; he's annoyingly disengaged from the community, considering that he's the only doctor around! I'm doing really well on other fronts, though - I've gotten enough artifacts turned in that by the time Summer 1 of Year 1 rolled around, I had melon seeds and starfruit seeds to plant. And I had enough money to go buy more seeds, too - I went for the lasts-all-season, produces-fruit-regularly stuff mostly. The spring bundles are done, too; the only thing I still need there is five gold-star parsnips, and that'll have to wait for next spring (I'm still short by three right now). I'm even having decent luck with the fishing minigame, despite not having the mod in yet. Which is sort of baffling, honestly.
so, for long reasons that aren't relevant to this thread, my nickname (HK) existed long before my chosen name. while i was going solely by HK i started romancing harvey i then chose harvey kristopher as my full name dating him is now really awkward, because i'm playing as "HK" :/
Hrrm. Making some winter clothes for Penny (she always looks so cold!). Thoughts? Edit: Hmm. ? Whoops when did it get past midnight, bedtime for eels now
I was really lukewarm on Harvey until I got his 10 heart event and you may consider me charmed @Ruevian THAT HOUSE THO goddamn
Those winter clothes for Penny look really cute! (It make sense to me that she would be cold, though. Good winter clothes are expensive.) Yeah, that's the thing - I've peeked enough to know that his heart events are cute? (I don't remember if I've actually seen his 10 heart event for myself; I think I have, but I'm not sure.) But it's just. Dude. He's the town doctor, he's probably the only person around who's able to do anything about people getting sick or injured that doesn't require rushing them to the big city hospital, or hoping that the contents of a first aid kit and rusty memories of how to use it will be enough. And he's in a farming community. Where people work with scythes, and large animals! And just - it feels like he should be busier, at least? Definitely more engaged with the community, less holed up in his apartment; it feels like the game maker didn't quite realize how a small-town doctor is going to end up being part of the community unless they're actively avoiding it? And like his personality got just enough broad strokes to give a good idea of what we're looking at, but not much filling in of the finer details afterwards. He's just really frustrating to me, honestly; I can definitely see what someone else would find appealing in him? I'm just not finding him particularly appealing, is all.
Hee, I got a Junimo plush :D Also I think Harvey's disconnect might be caused by losing a patient. He hints at that pretty heavily. And since I have no idea who 'mona' is in the graveyard, there's possibly a connection there. I understand though c:
Huh, I apparently missed that. And also assumed that 'mona' in the graveyard was Lewis' wife; he's old enough that it made sense to me. Thinking about it now, though, 'mona' could be Alex's mom.
Lewis has never been married! Ohhhh. Ohhh it'd make sense if Mona was Alex's mother. I don't know how long Harvey's been in the community, but she died 12 years before the game start, so it's possible?
I think Concerned Ape maybe made Harvey a bit too like his HM counterpart, because he really does feel disconnected from the community unless you happen to pop into the clinic on some of the days a townsperson has a checkup.
Actually, Alex's mom's name was Clara. There's a signed letter from her in Evelyn's dresser, if I remember right. Mona might be Mayor Lewis's wife though, it would explain why he and Marnie call their relationship an affair, and she could be recently dead that theystill feel the need to keep it secret.
