Somehow I wound up with the convention of giving all the chickens flower names, and all the ducks names of Homestuck female trolls. Bunnies get the names of the most macho and/or edgy shonen protagonists. (Kirito, Erin, Guts, Jotaro)
in my primary file my chickens (& i think ducks as well) are all named after birds of prey. (my other animals were named after the seven deadly sins.)
I gave all my animals freshwater plant genus names. Because theming. Growing stuff is a lot easier once you have iridium sprinklers. Spoiler: Farm Not quite up to date, I went and added another shed. More space. ETA: That is too adorable for words, how dare you
hey so does anyone have suggestions for building visual changer mods? i got a mod that lets me individually customize the apparences of my farm's buildings in-game so i'm collecting things for it (https://community.playstarbound.com/resources/customize-exterior.4675/)
also i have like fourtysomething mods including JumpOver, which is fantastic in that a surprising number of things are actually walkable, just surrounded by collision. like for example, most water. and out of bounds. and the gap in the quarry bridge. running around in places you really shouldn't be able to get to is hilarious fun fact a lot of 'unreachable' villagers in festivals have dialogue for if you do get there. i talked to pierre in the flower festival and he was like "How did you get here?!"
i realized the noise farmers make when they're fishing and get a bite is like a double cat activation noise so i installed a mod that allows for anthro farmers and now i have a gryphon farmer named Irdel with...so much backstory for how gryphons came to exist and so on...and also explainations for some silly stuff with JumpOver etc basically she can't fly but lots of flight magic and flapping lets her make big jumps! or lower her effective weight enough that she can walk or run on water! (stopping on water is, in-universe, her walking in rapid circles because if she stops the surface tension will break and she'll sink)
So Stardew didn't like it when I used the windows fullscreen button to repeatedly toggle fullscreen while the game was paused on the inventory screen don't worry it's visual only and easily fixed by entering any other map, conviently including the farmhouse map

thats a modded greenhouse! the base mod is the secret gardens greenhouse, but since im also running the populate json assets modpack and have like three times the amount of crops and five times the amount of trees, i needed to expand it a little.
and meanwhile one of my friends, who runs a multiplayer farm, had bizarre issues that were solved with a 50x50 greenhouse so i just have a stupidly huge greenhouse for a singleplayer save (Irdel's save is the "Speedrun greenhouse acquisition" save and she got it on fall the 14th/15th)
How (also i've taken to having a folder for every farmer that holds all the specific-to-them mods, and change them out as necessary. switching characters necessitates restarting the game, but small price to pay)
good luck with the travelling cart, focusing mostly on planting the crops required for the bundles esp the quality crops bundle, put down fertilizer, befriend emily just in case she decides to gift you wool as that reduces the need for travelling cart luck, a mod that allowed getting hay without a silo so i could build a coop and a barn before a silo, and just fixiate on those specific bundles
ooh, nice i kinda forgot that you could get certain things from the travelling cart, but of course you can xxD
also since that anthro farmers mod i'm using has kisekae as a requirement irdel has a winter coat (this is just normal irdel but her hair/wings/tail/ears are white not green)
