i've been playing it on mobile, it's quite a nice port, but you can't use mods. so my question is: do you skill up fishing in any way besides catching fish? like does it skill up from catching garbage in your pond, and/or from beachcombing? because i simply cannot catch a fish to save my life, and all the 'advice' on the internet falls into two categories: 1) reiterating the instructions on how the fishing game works, which like, thanks, i understand that i'm supposed to keep the green bar behind the fish, but i physically can't make that happen, and 2) "it's not that hard, just do it." which makes me want to ragequit. stardew fishing is Not Accessible to ppl with arthritis and it makes me Very Sad.
Carp are one of the easier fish to catch as they often drop right down to the bottom of the bar and stay there. They are the most common fish to catch in the secret woods Edit:accuracy
yeah, carp and sardines will carry you through the first few levels until you can get stuff like bait and tackle. if you need really hard fish for the Community Center, they sometimes show up at the traveling cart - that's usually where I get my pufferfish.
ooh, nice, i just got into the secret woods. does it normally have monsters, or are those only there cuz i'm playing the adventure farm? (i named it Hellmouth Farm, i am the buffest lumberjack)
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Crab_Pot i did some reading and poking around, and i think i grok this: once you make fishing level 3 (which apparently i can only do by fishing in the secret woods, but that's ok, i'm not romancing anyone so i don't need the time to run around town), you get the recipe for crab pots. they require bait, which is a recipe you get at fishing 2, and it's made out of bug meat. yay, a use for that stuff! you can put them anywhere, even the pond on your farm, and when you harvest them you get fishing xp even if they caught garbage. so that's a way someone with stiff joints can still complete the game. thanks for the tip.
i just stumbled across this https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/cokbg6/i_finally_have_a_void_chicken/
not true! there was always XNB modding, and now there's SMAPI for Android! https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/bcm8w8/smapi_for_android_version/ EDIT: you probably want to use https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3623 and not the old fishing made easy mod, because the old mod is old and the new mod has more options
1.4 update on steam and GOG! Hello, hyperfixation, nice to see you again! A couple nifty updates, some QoL stuff and some bugfixes. There is rice and tea now! It's nice to finally have the game track reactions to gifts for each NPC, although it's not retroactive so you may need to gift a bunch of things to everyone just to fill up their lists. Fish ponds are super nifty. Spoiler: The new 'endgame bundle' unlocks The new 'endgame bundle' unlocks a movie theatre that replaces the old closed-down JoJa-mart! There are eight different movies! You can invite *any* villager once per week! They all have their likes and dislikes and their own reactions! You can even invite the dwarf! He loves every single movie.
it’s a very good thing I didn’t bring my laptop with me for family thanksgiving visit because they would not see me all weekend I wanna grow rice!!!!!!!
Yeah you gotta update most mods, and if you used any XNB mods they broke in the update and are now depreciated entirely. Don't use XNB replacers for anything in PC stardew, they all broke and SMAPI can now handle absolutely everything XNBs used to be used for no matter how early in gameload it's needed.
I love that dressers can actually hold clothes and hats now! I used to pretend by putting a chest behind a dresser in my bedroom.
update!!! I have been playing so much of this, I really love the gift tracking thing and also just wow, this game is so relaxing, I love it.
