Holy shit, this game. I'm forty-nine hours in, I'm into summer of year 2, my farm contains goats and ducks and fruit trees and starfruit and five rarecrows and Sebby and a cat. I think making out with your spouse only builds hearts the first time you do it each day, but I keep doing it like three or four times in a row just for fun. I'm halfway done restoring the community center. (Someone mentioned catching a sturgeon - HOW DO YOU CATCH A STURGEON?) I just spent 54K on seeds. I had bad experiences with real chickens as a child, and they have embittered me, so I named all my chickens things like "Angryface" and "Birdbrain." Marnie did not seem to notice that these names were odd. Spoiler: Hard-won hints that I wish someone had told me sooner From bashing my face through the fishing minigame - when you're starting out, DON'T FISH IN THE RAIN. That's when better fish come out, which are harder to catch. Fish in broad daylight from the bridge over to clint's or the pond up by the mines, until you gain a few fishing levels and upgrade your pole. You can't predict when or which way a fish is going to move (though moving up the bar right at the start is common), the game is in reacting quickly when they do. There are in-game ways to make fishing easier but they all seem to require catching some fish first, so grind on carp for a while. I like using lots of little clicks and varying the frequency, rather then using long clicks and varying the length - it seems to give better control, though hard fish are still hard. See those little brown wiggly things in the ground? Hit them with your hoe. If there's blooming flowers around your beehives when the honey finishes, you get flavored honey. Pierre will tell me how long a seed will take to grow, but he needs to get on my level b/c all his times are way too high now. I'm having to take notes in order to plan. Maybe rarecrows give an extra bonus?
I got a couple from the lake in the summer. Standing on the bridge on the way to the mines, if you think that matters.
I'm pretty sure Sturgeon are only in the lake in front of the Mines, and during summer and winter. [edit] I just remembered and thought y'all would appreciate - Today I saw a guy who looked exactly like a rl Harvey in his early 20s would look. Same glasses, same kind of wavy side swept hair, same cute little mustache. Conclusion: rl Harvey would be adorable.
i was sort of ??? on how to catch lake fish for a bit until i realized that the lake near the wizard tower isn't... actually a lake, or something. lake fish only spawn outside the mine. also today i gave Abigail a topaz, and she commented that it looked delicious and that she was hungry. Abigail confirmed for eating rocks.
Oh totally. Each new bit of dialogue I kept exclaiming at the screen, "YOU ARE SO. GOTH." Hilariously, he reminds me of my first boyfriend, but he's sweet where that guy was awful. He's years too old for that edgelord crap, though. (Although he did manage to make me sad today talking about how Demetrius made him take down his snowman... )

I think when I make a new character (I want to try a different playstyle) I'll make him one of my younger OCs so I don't feel weird going for either him or Sam. On a different note, what's supposed to happen on the beginning of year three? Because Spoiler I rolled over to Spring 1 of year three and nothing happened, even though the shrine said Grandpa would come back on the beginning of the third year. I checked the shrine and got a fancy statue and nothing else - should I wait another day for something more dramatic to happen?
Spoiler I don't know but I heard Grandpa will grade you on your progress with the community center at some point? Sounds like my grandpa: coming back from the dead to judge my accomplishments. -_-
You should've gotten a spectral visit in the night. Try going in and out of your house a couple times, that seems to trigger it.
