Oh hey, if there's still sound, it might just be that the one on the right is dirty! That might be a bit easier to solve.
I just hurt my hand cleaning a toilet so I could use the toilet. Why are people, particularly men, so disgusting?
Oops guess I should clarify. I don’t mean she quit because of the present, she quit before I could give it to her. I don’t know if she’s going to be around at any point in the next 3 days and I don’t know her number. I could check the contact sheet for it when I get to work, but knowing how busy I’ll be/how forgetful I am I probably won’t text her to ask if she’ll be around. I also can’t ask my coworkers to check for me because they’ll be just as busy/she had a tendency to not come to work without telling anyone she wasn’t coming and they’re annoyed with her. One of my coworkers actually asked me if she could have the quitter’s present, and seemed annoyed (?) when I said I’d text the quitter first to see if she’d be around. *sigh* what a mess... Update: I came to work early so I could have time to message her. It’s been an hour and a half and she hasn’t messaged me back. It’s stressing me out. Final update: she didn’t reply back at all so I’m giving it to another coworker.
I touched a bear pelt at the natural history museum (at an interactive exhibit, with permission) and now my hands are red and puffy. To add insult to injury, mom said “haha yeah that’s why I didn’t touch it, cause of all the taxidermy chemicals and whatever” and it’s like... maybe say something ...before I touch the thing??
....if it's a pelt then you might be more allergic? The museum wouldn't keep an interactive exhibit around if it made most people get rashes.
Huh. I do have a ton of allergies. That might be more likely, really. They wouldn’t have people touch something with dangerous preservatives.
yeah, pelts are usually not preserved the same way taxidermy would be done. it was probably tanned, which doesn't use dangerous chemicals that would linger in the pelt after the process (and some taxidermied animals do just have the pelts tanned, rather than use chemical preservation). the chemicals used in preservation aren't something that you'd put in something intended to be touched, because they're very dangerous.
that said, i've also touched several taxidermied animal heads my aunt has mounted, and the only ill effect i had was unleashing the ludicrous amounts of dust in the fur :'D the only thing that i think would be really dangerous is messing with embalming fluid, and you're probably not ever going to come into contact with that
On the upside 'I'm allergic to bears' is a fun sentence. And if it is an allergy then you probably have medicine for it already?
I was reading tumblr.txt and the tumblr whiners adding people to lists of horrible whatever-phobes for tiny, pretty much neutral reasons really irks me today because like. Meanwhile in reality my sister's getting married to her girlfriend and it's likely half my extended family will refuse to come and we were all pleasantly surprised that my grandma even still sent my sister a Christmas card. I just. Ugh.
My laptop's screen self-destructed out of nowhere. >:::((( At least my old one still works, and with any luck it should still be under warranty.
Everything 8tracks has done over the last year has made it almost actively hostile to people who want to use the site like.... at all.... and that sucks hardcore.
