y'know what, i'm mostly a lurker here, i'm entitled to a double-post. here's something annoying: in a contract, if both parties agree to a predetermined amount of money ("liquidated damages") that'll be paid out if either party breaches, the court decides whether the amount is fair (and therefore enforceable) using the following test: 1. the amount must be reasonable in light of the anticipated harm 2. the anticipated harm must be impossible or extremely difficult to calculate hey law? hey law??? what is this? who came up with this rule
If it's impossible to calculate, how do you decide if it's reasonable? Oh, and my tummy empathizes. My gluten free pizza earlier today must not have been entirely gluten free.
fuck if i know! asked my professor about it yesterday and he shrugged so vigorously that i can only assume that this rule baffles absolutely everyone, including legal scholars who are specialists in the field of contracts
Tumblr's stupid recommended post thing keeps putting a post I don't want to see on my dash for exactly long enough to annoy me before xkit kicks in and hides it.
HMRC can't make Amazon pay taxes but can clobber me for importing £25 art prints and nearly double their price Ok.jpg
I stepped in dog shit in the shoes I just cleaned last week, and the treads are so small the brush wouldn't get it out properly so I had to pick the dirt out with a miniature spanner.
Slowly losing internet connectivity on my stuff. First the iPad, then my computer, next was my ps4, and now I can’t get my laptop to connect. I’m living at my cousins house and she has some really weird internet setup, so I don’t feel comfortable about unplugging it and plugging it back in. My father is also being a real asshole about it. “Are you sure you don’t have WiFi turned off.” Fuck off I’m not stupid.
The fact that Gmail absolutely, positively does not want anyone to use its scripting functionality and keeps quietly disabling all permissions for the script I wrote to flag emails from one-click-petitionbot services and then throwing a tantrum and sending my boss dire messages every time I reenable it.
I woke up and my jaw hurt and was swollen and I won't be able to see the dentist until January 2nd. The weird thing is none of my teeth hurt but it feels like I also have an earache?
You may have an earache or ear infection which can irritate your eustachian tube, causing mouth pain. Edit: can also go the other way
My Fair Lady is on about an hour in and it's actually??? Really upsetting?????? He's treating this flower girl like an animal and she's terrified! Fuck! Just, I don't like it and I'm sad b/c I've always wanted to see it :(
I really wanted a particular style of leather jacket for Christmas but when it got here it's cut for a male body, and has no hope of fitting me even in a different size (won't close over the hips and the sleeves are way too long, changing size would just make one or other problem worse). Browsing leather jackets for women brings up only ones I hate the style of or ones I could maybe fit one arm into.
I don't know if that works with leather or if it'd be too obvious I'd done it. It kinda sucks because I specifically wanted a men's leather jacket. Ones made for women are, well, obviously made for women, and it's kind of clear why now because leather has to be shaped more specifically to the body than stretchier materials, but I so wanted a cool-looking jacket which helped me pass.
It can be done, but takes the right skills. How many points do you have in sewing and leatherworking? If not enough, might could get someone else to do it.
