I've been looking for a yoga podcast for a bit now and I can't find a good one. Videos tend to not work because I'm legally blind without my glasses and I can't wear glasses while doing yoga.

    Does anyone have suggestions?

I have decided I am going to join the gym my sister also attends and try to get back into exercising. For now it's going to start slow (because I have a history of wanting to do ALL THE THINGS when I start with something) by attending one (1) Zumba class per week :) After a while I may add some yoga at the same gym or add another Zumba class. Depending on what I decide what my goals are :D

  5. I need to lose ten pounds to impress someone I've said one sentence to. Hopefully this will be a better motivator than doing it for my own health.

So I was reading an article on exercise intolerance this morning and I kept thinking 'why is this so familiar?'

You know why Zero. You gotta be careful about upping your game.

@tickingnectarine do you think this person wants you to lose the weight?

  7. No, I think I need to lose weight to be more attractive. Being more attractive means it'll be more likely they would like me.

I had thought the same thing at one point, but it turns out that my thinking was kinda off. It's entirely possible that this person will like you even with the ten pounds. Talking to them a little more might help you get a feel for that.

Also, take care of yourself. If you push yourself too hard to lose the weight you'll just wind up weak and tired and then even if they do wind up liking you it won't be as great as you were hoping because you're too exhausted to fully engage.

I say whatever you can get motivation from is good, so long as you don't overdo it.

I started running in the mornings with my dog (about half a mile, nothing too ambitious) but lemme tell you. Theres a very big difference in energy/stamina between an 18 year old out-of-shape human and a 1 year old german shepherd, holy shit. At least I'm pushing myself!

Now that I have a date set for seeing the endocrinologist, I really want to get back to losing weight and trying to become more active again.

I was doing pretty good on the first bit, through eating healthy too not anything disordered-like, since January. But then I had two wisdom teeth extracted. And I got dry sockets. And I got a persistant soft tissue infection. And I am so glad it's all done, and my mood is no longer being affected by strong antibiotics (seriously I go crazy).

I have been living like an agoraphobic couch potato, which is distressing because I enjoy dancing and hoop dancing and hiking and a few other things. I also enjoy pushing my nieces on the swings without feeling like I'm going to keel over.

I know I need to get back into things slowly. A daily walk, maybe? I was thinking, now that I finally have a phone that can handle it, of finally trying out Pokémon Go, and going for daily walks to the nearby Pokéstops. I'm in a city but more suburban kinda sprawl, the nearest Pokéstops (of which there are not many) all involve walking up and down hills. So there's that!

Gaming has been a huge solace, and tool of distraction, for a rough past few years. I no longer have jobs to help keep me going out and being more active. So, games, maybe? I'll let you know how it goes.

A daily walk is a great start! if you walk at a brisk pace about 30 minutes 5 times a week is enough to get most the benefits of exercise, and great for getting your body back into shape! It helps for me if there's some sorta fun destination; I love swinging so a park with enough swingsets that I won't bother any kids trying to play is a great place for me to walk to and from

So I cancelled my Skimble subscription and signed up at a real gym because they opened up a Planet Fitness close enough.
    • 10bux a month, which is only 3bux more than Skimble was taking, no commitment unless I upgrade to Black Card which gets me access to the hydromassage chairs and shit
    • A strict "no judgment" policy, also a "Lunk Alarm" that goes off if someone starts acting a fool and throwing weights down or otherwise engaging in shitty obnoxious gym douchebro behavior
    • they let me sign up with my preferred name. also you may remember them being in the news for standing up for a trans lady who was being given shit by another member, and I made sure to tell the dude that was the #1 reason I went there instead of the gyms within bike distance of my apartment
    • they have a weekly PIZZA NIGHT
    • all the machines and shit have very clear instructions and a QR code that will show you a 'how do this machine" video
    • they have a Crossfit-lite area with basically a fucking jungle gym for grownups
    • seriously they have a fucking PIZZA NIGHT.
So I'm gonna go lift some heavy things and play on some grownup monkey bars Friday after work! I can't wait.

  15. What kind of gym has a pizza night?

In other news, I just spent 20 minutes on the treadmill and I am officially the most pathetic, out of shape person I've ever met. Hopefully someday I will be, like, the third most pathetic.

I finally started excercising again and HELL it feels so good i forgot how much i liked it. Im mostly doing weightlifting currently but I gotta get back up to 40 three-second pushups and maybe figure out how to do a situp without my spine feeling like its breaking eventually

Well, that was the first time I've ever checked out a gym and not had the person showing me around immediately assume I'm there to lose weight so I'm gonna guess... one that understands that different people have different fitness goals and doesn't treat a slice of pizza once a week like a mortal sin, maybe?

So I didn't play on the grownup jungle gym tonight, but I did do like half an hour on a treadmill and the 30-minute express circuit, and... hoo boy

Station 2 of 20: hey, this isn't so bad, I can do this

Station 8 of 20: ...I may have done a Mistake

Station 19 of 20: it's too late for me, save yourselves

Station 20 of 20: yes. hell yes. hell fucking yes. ok red light means stop, I'm done, leaving now while I can still walk unassisted.

ahahahaha shit I'm gonna be so sore tomorrow.
