i liked the opening credits sequence though. not much like the old ones, but i liked the aesthetic of it.

it's lowkey and slightly wonky and full of technobabble and i love the main character and the captain of the shenzou and i mean
the people who watches star trek premier probably didn't think much of it.
things aren't perfect--the characters don't have the fifty, thirty, twenty years of weight the other do.
But I think they're going to grow.

 

Watching second episode now. CBS all access is nice for letting that happen. It really feels like the cut the pilot in half though.

so im behind on disco because im watching it with my fam but ive been watching ds9 for (afaik) the first time (it's possible i caught some when it was first airing but, u know, i was a babby), and holy shit i havent enjoyed a show this much in literal years

i think its rapidly overtaken all other star treks for faves, theres not a single character i dislike and theres so MUCH good chemistry, between odo and quark, and dax and kira, and kira and sisko, and jake and nog, and i guess o'brien's there too, and bashir is c u t e even if hes kind of a fuckboy but he absolutely pings me as autistic and i like him a lot & have high hopes for him

i just finished watching the s2 three-part opener but im so ready to watch more C:

oh. kay. no.

I always thought Neelix was gross for oh so many reasons I couldn't articulate at the time.

But it's annoying when fan discourse won't let aliens be aliens.

The number should be related to the life span when discussing this kind of thing, otherwise short-lived races can't ever breed and immortals can't date anyone.

I mean, if she only lives 7-10 years, then without life cycle info, 2 for her in my head is 20 for a human, and cranky old Neelix dating a 20 yo human is "kinda gross, but not my beeswax" for me.

But if she isn't supposed to go thru puberty for 2 more years, then suddenly, I don't care how she looks, she's not a biological adult nor sexually physically mature. Ew.

 

necros thread because my sibling and i are rewatching TOS! we just got to Devil in the Dark, i forgot how much i love that episode. it’s right up there with Amok Time imo. and it was written by gene coon so you can be sure all the K/S Moments are intentional lol

i hope that Spock and the Horta somehow contrive to be pen pals after the episode! i’m pretty sure that’s the first time he made a telepathic connection that deep with anyone.
