that actually works really great imo. i really like the whole "purplebloods were the condesce's inforcers" thing which i no longer remember if that's canon or not but damn is there a lot of fan creations for it, which lines up well with the quartz class in gem culture. they'd probably have around the same social status.

Current episode - Cordelia broke up with Xander just as they flipped flush because he's a rustblood and she's at least low-violet and her seadweller hatefriends were judging her hardcore for having anyone so common in any quadrant.

Shenanigans involving a certain tealblooded witch and everyone in Sunnydale but Cordie turning flushed for our hero ensure. (Blueblood* Giles gets a slight pass because he Has Control.)

(*Headcanon that Giles actually tries to pass as blueblood but the Ripper years belie he's actually an indigo who got a sudden attack of morals and flubbed his hemocaste to become a Watcherrorist)

Our Buffster (may she live forever) is either an olive or an indigo, what do you guys think?

this is pretty stream of consciousness but i'm reviving this thread because i wanted to draw rhys from borderlands as a troll and that got me thinking on how borderlands would work if it was troll culture.

handsome jack could be a blueblood who staged a revolution and took over (i think that fits well with how he started off as just some programmer), and then went cuckoo bonkers and now it's his goal to kill all the lowbloods, which he calls bandits. the sirens could easily translate over into surviving limebloods. i could totally see pandora fitting into the alternian empire as some backwater mining and weapons planet that lots of lowblood fodder get shipped off to for mining eridium.

eridium could be written as a substitute for helmsmen, because jack wouldn't trust "filthy bandits" on all his ships, regardless of the fact they're essentially batteries and can't do anything (re: cuckoo bonkers).

then the vaults get discovered, and every lowlife troll across the spectrum in every corner of the universe is swarming to this hell planet trying to get a piece of the glory, and jack's trying to kill them all and eventually the vault hunters are like "this sucks, we might as well still have the tyrian in charge" and start a revolution.

rhys'd probably be somewhere midrange on the spectrum. just high enough he wouldn't be killed for being in someone's way, but still pretty expendable. and of course he still wants to be just like jack at first (minus the crazy).

bonus: handsome is eight letters so it works perfect as jack's adult name.

I am trash and now I'm thinking of Overwatch as Alternian? Like, stuff like Gabriel Reyes was obviously a rust or brownblood necropath and he and Jack (teal or higher) flipped pitch on each other when Jack was made Strike Commander, then just got worse from there? (I'm picturing spiky right-angled horns on Reaper - who either sawed them off himself after he 'died' or broke them both in when the base collasped - and flat sort of slightly curled wildebeest horns on Soldier 76, who just tries to wear a hat or hood over them.) They're as pitch as jet towards each other atm, even if Jack keeps trying to flip it back flush.

Tracer's about as lowblood as you can get and proud of it - one of the reasons she was picked for the experiment was being psychic and expendable - and Winston is probably as Blue as Equius if he's not a talking hyperintelligent lusus or just alien. Junkrat's either a tall lowblood or a skinny indigo, with no inbetween, and his blueblood moirail Roadhog is possibly old enough to be his ancestor.

I'd call Mercy almost definitely a jade, but what do you guys think?
