I was looking at disbelief au stuff earlier and i ran across a comic dub of papyrus' eye glow being time related, like if sans is the space powers bro maybe papyrus is the time one? Of course frisk chara and flowey have already got enough of that to go around in their own way but as an au idea its interesting. The way it was used was papyrus could only fight at his utmost potential if he felt a strong hatred for something (because hatred makes it easier to justify harming or killing something), and his eye allowed him to see timelines (which would only further fuel his disbelief in you possibly becoming a good person if he saw enough bad timelines), which made me think itd also be really cool if sans could actually see where he was going before he jumped instead of the fandom interpretation of him needing to be familiar with a place. Anyways, i just thought it was cool and could go some interesting places if anyone wanted to play with the concept more

rolls around in echo flower he can only repeat words which means his communication is damn limited compared to what it was, and there was this lovely thing in this one homestuck fic (probably a vastderp fic) that played with that, and the way it's him and not asriel's intense baggage so while yes he'd have some of the flowey-like distortion it wouldn't be the Kill Or Be Killed thing it would be ACQUIRE FRIENDSHIP WAIT WHY ISN'T ALL THIS FRIENDSHIP FULFILLING HIDE MY EMPTINESS INSIDE THE EMPTINESS OF MY MAILBOX oh man it hurts so good to see someone take a concept i'd been toying with, and without some of the stuff i'm trying to force, and take it in an entirely different and lovely direction

about that Underswap AU thing: what if everyone outside the Ruins was sure Asgore was dead because his children died and then he found out about Chara's suicide and the last anyone saw of him was him hurrying to the Ruins, distraught and saying something along the lines of "I encouraged them" ("you have to stay determined") so everyone thinks he became fallen down or something
Okay i swear im not making this up but i cant find it again anywhere??? I saw a fell au a long while back that explained fellverse as being caused by a virus (as in magic body virus not computer) that makes monsters into fell. Their eyes and magic turn red, teeth and other misc body parts get sharp and dangerous, they become way more aggressive, and killing is a lot easier for them. They could hypothetically be in early stages for a long time but killing another monster vastly speeds up the process. Cue babybones sans and paps in the popular scenario of them being street urchins, papyrus gets sick because of the cold so sans goes and looks for help, comes back to papyrus being attacked and gaining face scar, sans kills attacker on accident and starts becoming a fell. He doesnt notice hes transforming and rushes papyrus to the hospital and no doctors will approach him except gaster who takes advantage of the situation "for the good of monsterkind". Papyrus is also somehow made immune, i dont remember how? I rather like this interpretation and just thought id share it. I wish i could find it again, the implications a fell sickness could have on other universes is really fun to think about.
pokemon AU where toriel is a sinnoh ex-professor who left the position after chara and asriel died (they ran off into the forest to look for something and never came back, and asriel's body was found) like 2 years later frisk, running away from home before they can become a trainer, gets lost in that same forest they nearly get eaten by, i dunno, a luxray or something, but get saved by a talking phantump the phantump is chara frisk gets sick and they stumble across toriel's house and toriel takes them in chara ends up being frisk's starter. it's a very odd state of affairs but it works.
Yeah, there was a fic that that's basically an AU of, where Asriel had a Sunflora and died to one of the Lake Guardians. Also Frisk didn't have a pokemon by the end of the fic.
Alternative way for the pokemon AU with phantump!Chara to go: Chara, Frisk, and the six other kids all escaped from the same place over a period of several years. Toriel took them all in, but Chara and Asriel died after wandering off into the woods, and then the Six were all terrified of Toriel and ran off into the woods (and died), and while Chara wasn't found by anyone Asriel was caught by an abusive trainer, and the Six got found by Asgore. Frisk brings about a very strange family reunion.
Similarly, i actually also really like phantump asriel because hes basically a child possessing a plant who tries to lead you astray in the beginning of the game in canon and it's more fun visually. Yamask chara would look great too. Im not super great at storytelling though and tend to think in drawings so these ideas would be less cohesive/less in character as a story probably
Phantump Asriel is interesting...actually that leads for a more interesting plot thread with phantump Chara, where Asriel is like, the slightly more stereotypical 'evil phantump' sort of character (with a really bad name because of course he'd rename himself something dumb), and then Chara has basically the same personality as they did when they were alive. Like, imagine: Asriel becoming fixated on trying to turn Frisk into a phantump, while Chara befriends them. Chara, who was convinced they were the worse of the two, realizing that Asriel is the one who responded to turning into a pokemon by trying to kill people. Also end-story Trevenant Asriel vs Frisk's Team fight.
