Undertale - Pet dogs and date a skeleton!

oh cool! I only tried the genocide route once, not long after undertale came out, and at that point the only info I found online was that the usual way you can cheat past the other bosses doesn’t work on sans.

I probably will not use this information at all because that was about enough of the genocide route for me lol

I may be the odd one out here,

but I always assumed that Flowey's comment was less about streamers and more of a dig against Sans, who has literally watched the player murder Everything Else up to that point.

That's a fun in-universe take, and leaves the fourth wall alone.

I need to pull up screenshots, I think the wording has him mocking people for wanting to see what happens if they kill everyone but not wanting to do it themselves... And that would be a hard take about Sans. But if those are two different comments, them maybe Sans is referring to Flowey's comment, later in the battle.

In celebration of the 5 year anniversary, I'm taking tomorrow off and going to generally nerd enthusiastically. Pet some dogs. Talk to some skeletons. Get a fish and a lizard to kiss. You know.

 

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Winter dialogue from the indefinitely delayed alarm clock project: little monologues and dialogues between some of the main Undertale characters about their first winter on the surface. These story snippets include, but are not limited to,

• various pranks and shenanigans
• an escalating, anime-inspired ice hockey game
• a disastrously wild holiday party
• Toriel doing the wine mom thing, with all the ups and downs that entails
• Blooky, Mettaton, Mew Mew, ghost refreshments and some tensions between the definitely-not-ghosts
• Papyrus and his very Papyrus standards for decor, party food, and the blanket rules for sleeping
• Sans, various ways of loitering about unhelpfully, little ways of bugging people, and occasional moments when he actually helps
• Alphys making a kotatsu with Mettaton
• Undyne's various forms of absolutely not reading the room because she's gotten too passionately into whatever she's doing
• Flowey, lurking almost unknown on the edges, but for a festive decoration, and an aggravated intervention
• Asgore, the meaning of Santa Claus, and bittersweet grief

We get to listen to all the changes for the better we've wrought, all the friends we've made... before tearing it down and breaking it far worse than a mere reset.

They did so well with establishing the tone of that run, not just racing to play the cool songs. I really love it.

 

and they ended on that too!! at the start I thought it would be neutral -> genocide -> true pacifist, but no, once you decide to go for genocide that's it. there's no going back from that. just the thin melody of the menu to remind you of what you've done...

 

Seriously, my gosh. They did so well with the neural run ending I could've been satisfied there. They did beautifully with the pacifist ending, and I cried at least twice in that, and dreaded them continuing...

and then they did do the geno ending but they did all those little things to underline the differences and emphasize the mood. Including it without celebrating it. That empty little start menu song. The orchestra just trickling out, the stage now empty but for the Toby plush... Man.

And rather than totally leave us on the downer note, there's the couple songs Toby plays as an encore.

Delightful animation of the Undyne segment of the winter alarm clock content!



The biggest caution that comes to mind is that Undyne is (fittingly) very loud, and Mettaton less so - I was unable to find a good volume for me to comfortably hear both of them, and finally went with the subtitles.

i am unsure where toby is going with all the romantic insinuations between ralsei and kris.
like... it's just strange to me how the games keep giving fodder for kris and ralsei when ralsei is obviously a representation of kris' brother
i'm not negative about it, i mean. i ship it? but i'm like.... what's your intent here haha
