Oh boy. Found a comic on Tumblr I need to share. DAAAAaaaang but the colors fit the moods of each frame very, very well. Spoiler: lab spoilers and thus, body horror
Woooah. I was watching Russ and Cry's genocide play through, and something clicked in my head. Flowey describes how he first discovered his Reset powers; by killing himself but, in the moment before disappearing, being Determined to survive after death. He says he "experimented" with the power, bringing himself to the edge of non-existence and then coming back, waking up in the garden each time. He never describes being able to reset any other way. He never describes you being able to reset any other way. That's... Wow. D:
@Beldaran Hmmmm. Interesting. Okay, here's some thoughts: when Frisk falls into the Underground, Flowey loses the ability to reset. Possibly because Frisk has more determination than Flowey does. Perhaps the amount of determination Flowey has is just enough to allow him to reset the timeline, and not anything more complex like loading - he is only able to save and load when he absorbs the 6 human souls (which may also be when his amount of determination surpasses Frisk's again.) Or perhaps it's something slightly different. Throughout their journey, Frisk encounters various things that "fill [them] with determination." This allows them to SAVE the game (and heal, to boot.) One could say Flowey was filled with determination, too - when Alphys injected him with it in the first place. But if nothing else he ever found or saw after that ever filled him with determination - other than the basic will to live, that is - he'd never be able to properly save, and as such any death or any LOAD would essentially be the same as a reset, since it would take him right back to when he first woke up. As such, he is only able to SAVE and LOAD once he aborbs the 6 souls, each of which fills him with a certain amount of extra determination.
Or, OR...tiny little tartlets since it sounds like a strong filling. or maybe add some chicken or something to make it into more of a 'meal' pie. Sounds good for quiche too though, my little chef muse just perked it's head up and screeched at me and i needed to respond in order to appease it. :)
Maybe using dark meat on chicken, to try and keep with the 'snail' sort of visual? Dark meat looks more grey and sludgy, compared to white meat anyway, and it's also really dense and flavorful. Would it be possible to pair off a seafood into it? I feel like scallops might also work, but I'm not sure how chicken and scallops would taste together, since I have scallops so infrequently and only with shrimp and vegetable sides when I do so. With chicken, it might be possible to make it into a pot pie though, which means less worry about a filling mix, and more just a covered crust. Later Addition: Some recipes on Buzzfeed gave me an idea... What about making the filling sort of a cheese sauce? Because there's a recipe for Gruyere, mushroom and onion pastries that look very akin to what I'm thinking this snail pie would look like, and add sort of a gooey, bubbly sheen to the edges. It would also work well with chicken, and Gruyere pairs commonly with oysters too, depending on the type of recipe used.
thighs would work well, especially if you cook them on the bone and then just take the meat off to put it in the filling. Thighs are one of the best parts of a chicken :)
Maybe oyster mushrooms, at least appearance-wise? They're quite snaily-looking. Add some thyme and garlic, maybe some taragon and you've got the start of a nice quiche-filling. Or you could always just take snails out of the garden for extra authenticity. (Don't do that, you'll probably make yourself sick at worst and make gross food at best.)
honestly that reminds me of a kid who literally just... cracked open and ate a snail he found on a wall at summer camp. what the hell is wrong with preteen boys??? (he said it was disgusting and recommended never doing that ever. btw)
I dunno, I know that some bugs are ok to eat pretty much as-is, but yeah. It doesn't seem naturally appealing or sensible to me, either.
Was he trying to get out of some activity he disliked, or was it just completely on a lark? "Hm, kinda hungry but I don't want to go to the canteen. Better eat a snail. It's full of protein."
Well, they are technically molluscs rather than bugs, and people do eat oysters raw.... just kidding, it's still a terrible idea.
A compilation of Papyrus moving in bizarre fucking ways. Thank you, people of the internet, for compiling this shit.
the dude did it because for some reason he thought it would make him cool. the rest of camp he was "snail eater". he got fame, but i'm not sure he was considered... ""cool""
so if anyone is interested, apparently Youtube User Sans the Skeleton is working on fan-prequel that will predominantly feature W.D. Gaster And Sans as well as Chara and Asriel and I am VERY excited.
Interesting. I wonder what sort of timeline they're working with, if those four will all feature in it. I generally assume it's been at least 100 years since Chara fell in, since so many of the monsters don't realize you're a human when they see you.
Right now it looks like a big focus is Gaster's accident and Sans' past. Seeing as a Young!Undyne Sprite has been proposed I suppose the timeline is considerably tighter than 100 years between human soul no.6 and frisk. that or the assumption is that monsters age RIDICULOUSLY SLOWLY But Sans is gonna be a scientist and I am excite about that mostly. bc it is my headcanon.
Spoiler: Gaster, pickle inspectors, and left eyes. You know. I snarked a while back that my headcanon of what happened to Gaster is that he started inspecting pickles. AKA, he spread out into tiny bits and formed the universe. Because I find it really interesting that the only two who can really stand up to you in a geno run both have a strange light coming out of their left eye socket, when that's the eyesocket on Gaster that's usually open.
ARGH so I have spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find this one King Mettaton art??? It was sad and somehow I cannot find it for the life of me even though I could have sworn I reblogged it! Spoiler: description (tw: suicide mention) Basically it showed Mettaton (in the ending where he becomes king of the underground) walking through the True Lab looking for Alphys because he wanted to apologize and ask for her help in ruling the underground, but he couldn't find her (and ended up walking right through her dust). So. If any of you guys know where to find that... that would be great. Because I've been trying to find it for a friend and it's driving me nuts.
