That is fair. Though I will say episode one is amazingly shit compared to most of the show. A friend had to drag me kicking and screaming through it. Picks up after that, though. So I feel.

I'm watching someone's lp and they're just before the core, and there's that fountain in the resort. 'Royal Memorial Fountain, Built 201x', it was made to remember Asriel and Chara after their deaths (has to be, there's no other explanation), and Mettaton just slams himself in the middle of it

makes it harder to ship Asgore and Mettaton, is what I'm saying. Asgore's pretty chill but I don't think he would be okay with that at all.

why do I even care, I prefer Asgore/Gaster over Asgore/Mettaton anyway. why am I thinking about this

We don't know for sure if the frightened figure even is Gaster, but it's commonly assumed that he is. So people use him as a way of explaining some of the gaps in the backstory, and they can give him whatever personality they like, without needing to adhere to much of anything besides "Scientist who made the Core."

Hey Undertale thread, you seem like the best place to ask for help on this.

Has anyone seen the twitter post where Toby says Asgore killed all the prior kids? I see it quoted a lot on tumblr and have people correct me on theories about it, but I have never seen the post itself. I just want to see it, especially since it seems to contradict in-game statements ("Please excuse me, I've never done this before.") so I'm not sure what to make of Asgore otherwise.

 

I've seen it - he goes 'Past asgore, not to asgore' (as in, they never made it past asgore, not they never made it to asgore), then goes 'rip x 6'. Lemme try to find it.
