US Presidential campaigns...

tbqh i feel like with controversies on either side of clinton v trump, if either get put into office its certainly possible we could have an impeachment on our hands.
Which is why we should pay attention to the folks we get as running mate / vp's. Because you never know. Somebody could just go "welp, i resign, have president mechahitler, kids".
fwiw i'm leaning bernie and sincerely hope we can nab the nomination.

 

Frankly I would be impressed if impeachment happened, since US society seems allergic to the mere idea.

 

I could see it happening for Trump, but Clinton has been here for a while and, to be fair, I'm pretty sure her "scandals" are pretty common in US politics.

 

see, i'm a one-issue voter, and my one issue is "i'm not voting for someone unless i actually think they would be a good president," and i generally vote for third-party candidates anyway, so if i looked up her majesty and concluded that she would make a better president than anyone else i could think of, i would totally write her in.

i'm thinking a monarch from a nation with a different system of government might not be the best choice for president, though.

@oph true! even if there's precedent in england for the monarch to be a ruler of some other country, too, i doubt anyone here would be interested in re-writing things to make it so the king/queen of england is simultaneously the president.

 

Just add "President of the United States" to her list of titles, I guess.

 

There absolutely is precedent for the British monarch to also be the ruler of other countries as well. The Queen is also and separately e.g. the Queen of Canada, of Australia, etc etc. Now that those countries are independent of the UK it is not part of the same job. but a totally separate one.

 

I have already asked Lib to make her take us back. She can't make her. God dammit.

 

I just got my actual ballot in the mail and of course my re-registration hasn't gone through yet, so it's an NPP ballot. Why the hell are they sending these out so early? There's still more than a week before the registration deadline

Yeah, probably. I just wish there was a way to do that without having to call them but I guess I'm SOL

 

You might be able to contact them via email, I was able to do that after looking through their website.

 

Already checked, didn't see any email on the website. Will probably look harder tomorrow before I call
